Rainbow Day Nursery has a designated food officer who is responsible for overseeing the safe handling and storage of foodstuffs consumed on the premises who follows the Food Standards Agency guidelines.

Healthy eating policy

We are conscious of the importance of encouraging healthy eating habits in children from a young age. We always endeavour to use healthy methods of cooking such as steaming grilling boiling and baking, plus we do not add any salt to our dishes. We are a nut free zone.

All our meals are home made using fresh quality ingredients meaning that we can monitor exactly what goes into each meal that is given to the children. We are therefore aware of the fat and sugar content of each dish.

Please see the weeks menu for examples of this.

Our children’s future healthy eating habits are being formed during the time they are at our Nursery. With this in mind we are committed to giving them the best eating habits for the future.
