Communication is key to your child’s success at school. I will keep you informed of your child’s progress in class in various ways…

1) You can access grades anytime on Infinite Campus, I update that info each day. Contact Greg Konda at the high school if you do not already have an account.

2) I contribute articles to our school website and our city newspaper.

3) I keep a blog on my staff page of the school website—it will include what is happening in class and pictures of the kids.

4) I will inform you of positive (and sadly, negative) things that your child does in the classroom on an individual basis.

I would hope that you would contact me as well, whether through e-mail, phone calls, or conferences. Occasionally e-mails go through our junk mail if your address is not recognized, so if I don’t respond to you in a timely fashion, please call because I may not have gotten the message.

Technology Curriculum

The main focus of this class is to teach students internet safety and basic program functions including coding.

We will cover safety issues in relation to various social media sites and popular apps—students will not be accessing those sites while in class without direct teacher supervision. The main focus will be on the positive and negative aspects of using these technologies.

We will also look at internet safety and how to conduct research, use programs and interact on line safely.

Students will review and be introduced to pieces of the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive. This will help support their other classes that use these tools.

The class is project-based, designed to implement various technological tools and resources. Students will be given enough time in class to complete projects if they use their time wisely. Many of these projects will be collaborative and students will need to work with partners to complete tasks.
