This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in the expansion of Teach A Man To Fish (“TAMTF”) programmes internationally, and to gain valuable experience in developing school-based social enterprises focused on education and poverty reduction.
The Programmes & Business Development Manager will develop, manage, and secure support for TAMTF education projects overseas, as well as providing business planning and organizational development assistance on a consultancy basis.
This is a full time paid position based in Londonhowever the role is expected to require a significant amount of travel overseas each year.
Responsibilities
-Design and develop TAMTF Self-Sufficient Education projects alongside partner organisations in Latin America, as well as Africa Asia (as required).
-Secure funding for these projects and oversee their implementation.
-Monitor, evaluate and assess impact of these projects alongside partner organisations.
-Oversee the expansion of TAMTF consultancy services as well as UK-based social enterpriseswhere opportunities arise.
-Deliver TAMTF consultancy services – primarily focused on business planning - to partners, schools and clients across as well as Africa & Asia (as required).
-Network with other NGOs, academics, policymakers and donors to promote the Self-Sufficient Schools Model on a global scale.
-Contribute to TAMTF communications through the provision of information and editorial input.
-Represent TAMTF externally at conferences, seminars and other events.
-Recruit and line manage the TAMTF field staff and contractors.
-Recruit and line manage other UKstaffand volunteers as necessary..
Person Specification
Skills / Experience / Qualification
Essential:
- At least 2 years’experience in either:
-Programme management for an international development organization, and / or
-Businessplanning and enterprise development in the UK and/or internationally.
- Undergraduate degree 2:1 or higher in Business, International Development, Education, or related field.
- Experience of living and/or working in a developing country
- Strong sense of initiative and an entrepreneurial approach to working.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills
- Fluent Spanish
- Willingness to travel overseas for up to 4 months each year.
- High level of competency in Microsoft Office programs.
Desirable:
- Knowledge and experience of financial management systems
- Proven track record in institutional and trusts & foundations fundraising.
- Proven track record in corporate fundraising.
- Experience of training and capacity building.
- Strong knowledge of current issues facing education in the developing world.

Direct Reports:Central America Regional Coordinator, Nicaragua & Honduras Field Officers, Teach A Man To Fish Fellows and UK Office Interns (as allocated).
