  • From the date when the Council receive your notification (with the required information), the Council have a period of 56 days to notify you for the following outcomes;

Prior Approval is not required;

Prior Approval is given; or

Prior Approval is refused.

  • In the event that you have not received a notification, and no notification is available to view on the Council’s Website, 56 days after the application is first registered, the development will be deemed to have been approved. If you would like a formal decision to this effect, you will need to apply for a certificate of lawfulness.
  • In the event that Prior Approval is refused for the development, you will have the right of appeal to the planning inspectorate. For more information on this, please visit
  • After you submit your application the Council will confirm receipt. If you do not receive any correspondence within 2 weeks, you should contact the Council to check that your application has been received.
  • If you have not received any decision within 8 weeks, please check the Councils’ website to confirm whether or not a written notice has been issued.
