Job Description for Manager (Health and Well-being Services)

Title:Health and Well-being Services Manager

Salary:£ 21,840 p.a.

Hours:30 hours per week

Accountable to:Chief Executive (CEO)

Responsible for:Overseeing all Health and Well-being Services and management of staff

Job Purpose

This is a new management post that will have responsibility:-

- of sustaining and developing Age UK Harrow’s H &WB services to meet the needs of older people, ensuring that they are appropriate to our diverse population.

-Implementing Health & Safety across the whole organisation

-In supporting the CEO in ensuring the continued growth and development of the organisation.

-To jointly deputise for the CEO

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To sustain existing services and develop new ones, when appropriate, based on the identified needs of older people.

.

  1. Working in partnership with the Core Services Manager in deputising for the CEO.
  1. Ensuring that Health and Safety is implemented across the organisation.
  1. Supporting and helping to make the organisation fit for purpose in terms of tendering and procurement.
  1. To contribute to and participate in fundraising for services including researching and identifying potential sources of funding; applying for funding, preparing tenders for services and negotiating contracts and service level agreements.
  1. To work in partnership with the Core Services Manager in producing the quarterly newsletter
  1. Line manage the staff and projects that deliver direct services to older people. This will include:-

-Quarterly supervisions on a target and outcome-focused services for older people.

-Offering support and guidance.

-Developing a management cycle of evaluation and planning within various projects, and ensuring monitoring data and service users’ feedback are used as part of an evaluation system.

-To draft and present regular and timely reports on the Projects and services as may be required by funders, the Board of Trustees or as otherwise required by the CEO

  1. Undertake training needs assessment for all direct reports and develop training programmes with managers as required
  1. Work with direct reports to ensure that services are adequately publicised, and that they are accessible to Harrow residents
  1. To ensure that a proper pricing structure is set up for all the chargeable services.
  1. To ensure that all casual workers, sub contractors are properly vetted and have up to date contracts/agreements.
  1. To ensure publicity materials are produced and distributed by project officers at appropriate stages.
  1. To set up new chargeable services as per demand.
  1. To ensure Health and Safety is implementing in all services including risk assessments.
  1. Ensure the Van is maintained and regular checks carried out.

-Implement the full usage of the van by all relevant services.

  1. To represent Age UK Harrow and participate in appropriate external meetings and events in order to remain aware of local, regional and national issues affecting Health and Social care for older people.
  1. To work with the Core Services Manager and be familiar with social media i.e. Facebook, twitter and implement this for all staff to use.
  1. To ensure the use of Charity Log in partnership with the Core Services Manager for the whole organisation
  1. To organise events in partnership with the Core Services Manager.

General

  • To assist the CEO and Finance Officer to monitor the budget for the services, and to authorise items for expenditure up to agreed limits.
  • To be familiar with and to work to the terms of the funders criteria and ensure that monitoring reports are completed on time.
  • To set up systems for monitoring and evaluating services.
  • To ensure use of charity log by all services.
  • To provide reports, statistics and information on progress as required, to the CEO
  • To comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures in standards of good practice including equal opportunities, data protection and health and safety.
  • To attend senior managers meetings, staff meetings, AGM, Volunteer Parties and provide regular reports to the Board.
  • To attend other meetings to represent Age UK Harrow as advised by the CEO which might be relevant to the organisation.
  • Have regular supervision and annual appraisals.
  • Any other duties as may be identified and agreed with the CEO of Age UK Harrow.
  • To maintain the confidentiality of all financial information related to Age UK Harrow and people employed by it
  • To understand, promote and work to the provisions of Age UK Harrow’s equal opportunities policy, and in accord with its philosophy of care to older people.

  • At least 2 years proven experience of managing projects and staff.
