10:30- One hour PDAS update for returning teachers

New teachers report to Ms. Jody Kotys in the library for campus orientation.

Lunch on your own

1:00 Teachers report to the theatre for review of TAKS data. Teams will further disaggregate data in their subject team meetings.

2:00 Emergency Operations Plan, Mr. Ignacio Estorga

Tuesday, July 26

Round Robin Sessions (staff will be divided into two groups based on agenda color: gold and cardinal)

8:15 Gold Team reports to the Theatre to watch Waiting for Superman. Discussion and introduction to The Power of ICU by Danny Hill and Dr. Jayson Nave, this year’s book study.

Cardinal Team reports to the Universal Lab for Web 2.0 Tools Training with Ms. Yocie Hernandez.

11:30 Lunch on your own

Wednesday, July 27

Job-a-like for Fine Arts, CTE, Foreign Language, Special Education Specialize Units, Health and PE

8:15 Department Meetings followed by Subject Team Planning for the first 9 weeks. Departments to review inventory, procedures.

The subject teams will plan their lessons and create assessments focusing on increased instructional rigor in all areas. Everything must be documented on the IFL (each person must have copy of the IFL for each subject team ready for tomorrow’s training).

11:30 Lunch on your own

Teachers will report according to agenda to either Library or Universal Lab (you will remain in that venue for the entire afternoon). Training will be twofold:

A.  Teachers will learn to access data through Eduphoria Aware. Document student needs on IFL.

B.  Teachers will learn how to use the I-Pad as an instructional classroom tool.

Band Room - The New Cornell Notes – teach your kids how to teach themselves with C-Notes. This session will teach you how to use a comprehensive C-Note in your classroom. The C-Note will allow the student to take notes, summarize, and formulate higher order questions based on their notetaking. Ms. Tanya Gallegos, Ms. Ana Regalado.

Orchestra Room - Teach your kids the art of writing an effective and concise summary. This session will provide another strategy to increase writing across the curriculum at EDHS by using the One Pager, Ms. Janet Carrillo, Mr. Gabe Lopez.

2:30 – 3:45 Cardinal Team reports Orchestra Room; Gold Team reports to the Band Room

Teacher Work Day


Lunch: Which Department can build the best sandwich??? Brainstorm to build the ultimate in sandwiches on artisan bread, on a hoagie, grilled, melted - you decide! The administration will provide drinks, chips. We will happily buy the bread – just ask us!! Sierra Providence Hospital will provide dessert!! All departments will participate, and you only need to make enough sandwiches for your department.

Ice cold watermelon will be served on the patio after lunch. We will have a watermelon seed spitting contest on the patio – so departments, choose the teacher that will win this coveted honor for you! Prizes will be awarded! Judges will sample all sandwiches to choose the very best sandwich in the Aztec Empire!!

Judges will be: Head Chef from Sierra Providence Hospital, Jorge Lara

After lunch each administrator will recognize one teacher of their choice with the Energy Bus Award. Mike Ramos and Ms. Paugh will each honor a teacher with the Golden Ticket Award. All teachers are examples of meritorious service to the students of El Dorado High School.
