- Why were there no major witchcraft scares in the Chesapeake colonies and no uprisings like Bacon’s Rebellion in the New England colonies? Consider the possible social, economic, and religious causes of both phenomena.
- Why did slavery in the colonies grow more rapidly in the last decades of the 17th century than in the earlier decades of that century?
- If you were a colonist, in which New World colony would you prefer to live: New England/Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island, Virginia, New Netherland, or New France? Explain why. Address why you would not want to live in the colonies you didn’t select.
- Puritans fled England for the freely practice their vision of Anglicanism (Church of England). How do the examples of Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson demonstrate the hypocrisy of the Puritans in Massachusetts Bay?
