We are a very early stage Silicon Valley based Solid State Lighting Module startup. We are focused on bringing value added solid state lighting modules to the global lighting industry. Xicato’s experienced executive team collectively has more than 70 active years in the (Solid State) Lighting industry, including R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, New Business Development and General Management.

THE ROLE
As a member of the core team, we have an immediate need for an experiencedadvanced manufacturing and process engineer. You will work closely with the R&D Engineering and Operations Team on key process and manufacturing technologies for our Xicato light module. This may include the development, optimization and transfer of various manufacturing processes includingtesting and tuning technologies,dispensing, coating, and assembly. You will be the in-house expert via collaboration with engineers, vendors, and technicians on process control and capability improvement. You will also assist with material selection, qualification and optimization. You will be a key team member participating in the selection, development and qualification of off-the-shelf and custom process equipment and fixtures.You will be expected to author comprehensive engineering and manufacturing documentation such as machine specifications and standard operating procedures. Additionally you will direct installation, qualification, and release of processes to high volume processing facilities overseas. Experience

Hands-on experience with automated assembly, dispensing, and coating process development, control and monitoring will be helpful. Demonstrated capability in objectively developing and controlling both wet, and mechanical processes. Experience in maintaining and transferring these processes to overseas teams and working with international vendors is preferred. Ability to understand, troubleshoot, and optimize intricate mechanical systems for manufacturing. Familiar with process monitor and final product performance, quality andreliabilityverification techniques. Demonstrated to have a strong applied mechanical, manufacturing or process engineering background.

Skill Set

  • Hands-on experience with process development and mechanical/manufacturing engineering.
  • Experiencewith statistical and Cpk analysis, SPC control and 3D CAD software packages, PFMEA development, and DOE.
  • Proficient with MS office, especially Excel, and with a statistical analysis package such as JMP or Minitab. Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a major plus.
  • Able to write objective and concise engineering reports with clear objectives and conclusions.
  • Fast learner and able to rapidly come up to speed on new technologies.
  • Must have understanding of general manufacturing process flow and experience working with manufacturing equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated hands-on mechanical ability with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Responsible team player with good collaborative skills and the ability to quickly adapt to change.International experience is a plus.

Education

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field with significant relevant work experiencehighly desired, MS preferred.
