Make-Up Work Policy: The student is responsible for making up any work missed in the classroom. Being absent from class does not excuse work done in class. Work may be made up before or after school and must be scheduled with Mr. Melton in advance. There will be a folder in the back of the classroom labeled by class period. Your makeup work will be in your class period folder. You will have one week from the day the work was assigned to complete missing work.

Restroom Policy: The student has 3 restroom passes per nine weeks to be used as needed. After three passes are used, the student will be required to stay for a 15 minute detention after school to make up the time missed in class. Refusal to stay after school for detention will result in a referral.

Late Work Policy: Students may turn in work from the Unit up until the Unit Test. However, for every day the work is late, ten points will be reduced from the earned grade.

Tardy Policy: Students tardy more than three times to class will receive a discipline office referral.

Cheating/Plagiarism: For the first offense, the students will receive two days of ISS and make up the assignment with the chance of earning no more than a 77.

Testing/Retake Policy: If a grade of 70 or below is made on a major assessment, students will be given one opportunity to retake the assessment after they have tutoring/conferencing with Mr. Melton. No more than a grade of 77 can be earned. If a student earns any grade below a 70 on a test, the parent will be contacted via email to let them inform them of the student’s grade.

If students are caught on their phones, the phone will be taken up until the end of class. If a phone is caught out a second time, it will be handed over to administration. Occasionally I will allow students to listen to music on their iPads when they are working individually; however, this is a privilege. Headphones are not to be worn in the classroom while lessons are being taught. This is very disrespectful. Headphones will be allowed when music is allowed.

My Educational Philosophy: My personal philosophy of discipline is that I feel it is absolutely necessary to lead by example. As an educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to do what is necessary to create an inviting atmosphere, provide engaging instruction and activities, meet the needs of all the students, and most importantly, maintain a professional demeanor and be viewed as a positive influence to those around me. Computer skills will be necessary for future success, regardless of the choice of profession after high school. It is important for each student to take responsibility for their learning by setting goals, asking questions, and participating in the classroom. My primary objective is to provide the best learning environment for students, and if we work together, we can accomplish astonishing things.
