Matt Newton

Matt Newton, from Cookeville, Tennessee is the Mossy Oak Turkey Regional Pro Staff Manager for the states of Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Matt Newton grew up in Cookeville, Tennessee. From an early age he showed an obsession for being outdoors. He began hunting 30 years ago. As a youngster he loved to hunt doves, squirrels and rabbits. When he turned ten he began to chase deer and took his first two deer that first year. After that it spiraled out of control as he fell deeper and deeper in love with spending his life outdoors enjoying what the Lord had given him to enjoy doing. He feels it is in his blood to chase wild game and to fish.

As a youngster he loved to spend time on the lake fishing and also shooting archery tournaments. His first job as a teenager was working in the local sporting goods store as a bow tech.He gets a huge satisfaction out of putting food on the table for his family and friends that he either has taken or caught.

In the fall and winter you will find him somewherechasing Whitetail deer in Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. In the spring you can guaranteehe will be found in thewoods or fields somewhere across the United States trying to yelp and cluck up a long beard. When not behind a gun he loves sitting shoulder to shoulder with a youth hunter or someone else new to hunting. Hemore than likelywillhave avideocamerawithhimas he loves to capture hunts on film.

Matt still resides in the Upper Cumberland area of Tennessee with his wife, Heather, and two children Barrett and Hadley. His son already has hunting in his blood as well and has tagged along with dad starting at the age of three and being along on successful trips to the woods. His son Barrett took his first turkey and deer at the age of six.

Matt is a lifetime member of the NRA, a Sponsor Member of the NWTF, a member of Ducks Unlimitedand also a member of the QDMA. He holds committee positions with his local NWTF chapter and QDMA branch. Matt takes great pride in his local NWTF Chapter and their Jakes program. The chapter holds a Jakes Day event each year that has more than 500 kids in attendance from around his community. The event has received Best Jakes Day in the Country with over 150 Jakes attending in 2013 and 2014.
