  1. Hamza welcomes the meeting members.
  1. Minutes of last meeting
  1. Are approved with a general aye. They are available on the Executive blackboard for members to view.
  1. Exec Meeting Overview- Andy Fitzpatrick
  1. Andy gives an overview of the meeting to the members, he explains the UBU structure along with the Executives role within it.
  2. Andy outlines the importance of Executive meeting to the members.
  3. Andy goes into depth explaining the UBU’s meetings and procedures. E.g. Finance meeting, Events meeting.
  4. Hamza expands on Andy’s points regarding the UBU. He goes into detail explaining the importance of Executive meeting.
  1. Role of Chair – Andy Fitzpatrick
  1. Andy explains the role of the chair to the meeting in depth.
  2. Andy describes which meetings Hamza chairs. He explains what each of these meetings entail.
  3. Andy explains to the meeting the impartiality needed to be chair of a meeting.
  4. Andy explains how to challenge the chair.
  1. Council Reports Templates- Robin Marshall
  1. Robin describes to the meeting what is needed from a report. To Council. He encourages the Executive Officers to access Blackboard to see examples of previous reports.
  1. Exec agreement
  1. Hamza reads out the exec agreement to the meeting. It describes the terms of the meeting
  2. The Executive team discuss the agreement in depth. They agree to the terms with a general aye.
  1. Council Byelaws – Hamza Butt
  1. Hamza explains to the meeting the changes to the UBU bylaws
  2. The exec team vote on whether or not to accept the bylaw changes.
  3. Exec approve bylaws with a general aye
  1. Council Sub-Committees Structures and Election- Hamza Butt
  1. Hamza explains to the meeting the structures of the UBU sub-committees. He informs the meeting members these Committees will be elected on Thursday’s Council.
  1. SU Space – Andy Fitzpatrick
  1. Andy introduces to the meeting the newly proposed structural changes to the Union. He describes to the meeting members how a newly changed UBU would look. With changes to the Student Voice & RAM Air, areas.
  1. Islamic Union formalisation – Andy Fitzpatrick
  1. Andy gives a background into the history of issues facing Islamic societies.
  2. Andy explains to the meeting the reasons behind forming an Islamic society group.
  3. Andy explains to the meeting the idea of an Islamic Union becoming a society federation executive.
  4. The meetings members discuss the issues faced by the Islamic societies
  5. The meeting members discuss the options for other societies to have this same kind of arrangement.
  6. The execs discuss the logistics of a joint Islamic society
  7. The exec agrees with a general aye the Islamic Union falling under the society branch
  1. Your Big Ideas
  1. Robin introduces the Your Big Ideas module to the Executives. This webpage would have students submitting ideas to Council via the UBU website – an idea reaching 100 ‘Thumbs Up’ would come to Council for discussion.
  1. Campaigns
  1. Filip discusses hosting a treasure hunt at the faculty of Management campus.
  2. Andy encourages Filip to speak to Michael Allhouse for assistance here.
  1. Bianca states to Council she is putting on a international students dance in November. She is working with Robin to plan this.
  1. Akinwale is hosting a Post Graduate Research (PGR) Lounge event night.
