Job title:Personal Budgets Project Manager

Salary:£25,000, performance related pay review after completion of year one.

Hours per week:35 hours per week including occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays

Purpose of post

  • Providing leadership and direction to the personal support workers, developing and maintaining quality standards and person centred ethos in line with the principles and philosophy of the Housing Service
  • Leading on strategic planning and growth of the service.
  • Induction and training of personal support workers
  • Recruitment of personal support workers
  • Contributing to the development of the Housing Service as a whole
  • Contributing to recruitment, induction and training of bank staff

Key tasks

Developing and maintaining a quality service

  • To facilitate and carry out the day-to-day functions of running the project.
  • To facilitate the growth of the service in Islington and other boroughs
  • To coordinate the booking and timetabling for staff.
  • To work in partnership with service users and family carers
  • To work in Partnership with other professionals and organisations where needed
  • To record appropriate information for analysis and to meet project targets ie. Hours of support, type of support, number of families.
  • To invoice families / SU on a monthly basis
  • To mentor the volunteer responsible for consultation work as part of the project
  • To attend monthly project group meetings
  • To promote the service internally and externally
  • To carry out needs assessments meetings with interested parties
  • To coordinate and keep a waiting list
  • To be creative with trying new approaches within the project
  • To carry out research where relevant
  • To liaise with the council and other partners where necessary
  • To assist with the coordination of service user feedback
  • To assist with the development of standardised procedures.
  • To assist with the development of policies and contracts
  • To support PSW with the development and recording of outcomes for SU
  • To ensure staff are equipped to support people through a needs assessment, and where necessary RA and behaviour / communication guidelines.

Management responsibilities

  1. Take a lead role in recruitment, induction and training of new staff.
  1. Lead, motivate and support the personal assistants (bank staff where appropriate) so that they are able to provide a quality service.
  2. Ensure that each member of staff receives support, supervision and an annual performance review in line with Centre 404’s staff management policies and ensure that a programme of staff training and development is in place across the service.
  3. Ensure that an appropriate shift system and rota is in place to provide support to the service users in line with service agreements.
  4. Ensure that team meetings and other systems are in place to facilitate good communication about issues within or affecting the service.
  5. Maintain management records in line with Centre 404’s procedures. These include support and supervision records plus records of hours worked, annual leave, sick and other leave. Ensure that confidentiality is maintained and that information is provided to other departments as required.
  6. Ensure that monitoring or other records required by Centre 404 or direct payments team are maintained and provide reports and information as required.
  7. Ensure that Health and Safety standards, risk assessments, are adhered to and that all necessary records are kept.
  8. Ensure that the service is managed within budget, monitoring expenditure against allocated resources and taking corrective action if required. Producing monthly management reports, invoicing for services, completion of pay roll for staff and monitoring budgets for service users.
  9. To attend working groups and sub groups as required.

General

  1. Adhere to Centre 404’s policies and procedures, particularly the organisation’s Equal Opportunities policy.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of any information regarding members of Centre 404, service users or any sensitive issues relating to the work of Centre 404.
  3. Regularly attend staff meetings and support and supervision meetings.
  4. Identify own training needs and undertake any training courses required by line manager.
  5. Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of the post.
  6. Participate in an on-call rota for the Housing Service.
