COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course further develops student mastery of media design and the interactive media production process. Students will advance their knowledge and skills in media design and production through project planning and product development. Students will demonstrate the use of multiple tools and modalities in the production process. Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of 2D and 3D animation in its current and projected uses in multimedia;
  • Use the tools and skills needed to create drawings and graphics for a wide range of applications (Adobe CS);
  • Utilize digital audio and video editing tools;
  • Examine and demonstrate effective composition and compression concepts;
  • Develop components of simulation and game development programming and products;
  • Define typical file types such as TIFF, EPS, PICT, BMP, JPEG, GIF and perform file conversion within and between platforms;
  • Incorporate film and video production concepts and products in interactive media production; and
  • Test the effectiveness of interactive media products.

Project 2: Radio Drama

Project 3: Animation

Project 4: Documentary/Reality Film

Project 5: Composition of a Music Loop

Project 6: Game Design and Simulation

***Students will be graded using a variety of methods, including but not limited to:

dailyassignments, tests & quizzes, warm-ups, midterm test, & final exam.

***TESTS will be announced --- QUIZZES may be unannounced.

ASSIGNMENTS & EXAMS POLICY

1.Keep a course notebook that includes ALL information papers, tests & quizzes, warm-ups, & notes.

2.All assignments are due & collected the NEXT DAY unless the instructor tells you otherwise.

3.Assignments must follow these guidelines, or they will NOT be graded:

a)be in pencil or erasable blue or black ink NO COLORED INK !!!

b)have your name, the assignment, & the date shown clearly

4.Tests can be corrected or retaken following these and county guidelines:

5.Make-up tests/quizzes must be taken after school & before the next unit test, or the score remains zero.

6.Make-up work & tests are allowed according to the attendance policies of QACPS & KIHS.

Other late work may be accepted with instructor’s permission, for ½ credit.

7.The student, NOT the teacher, has the responsibility to get make-up work or schedule a make-up test.

8.After-school help days & times, including at least 1 late-bus day per week, are posted each Monday.

CLASSROOM RULES & PROCEDURES

1.Come to class with a pencil !!! Be ready to work with your pencil, eraser, & other supplies.

2.Display courtesy & respect at all times.

3.Arrive & be in your seat before the bell rings, or you are tardy.

4.Raise your hand & wait to be recognized before speaking.

5.Remain in your seat unless the instructor gives you permission otherwise.

6.Save pencil-sharpening, trash, & asking personal questions for after instruction time.

7.Work on math during class time unless you have the instructor's permission to work on something else.

8.Leaving the room for any reason (except as required by staff) requires: Teachers Permission

9.Be a good citizen! Three reminders in a day for unacceptable behavior results in disciplinary action.
