Narrative Essay -- A Special Event
Step 1: Prewriting (completed in class)
You have two choices for this topic:
1: An event that has affected your life ---Examples: family reunion, birthday, wedding
2: An event that has affected society ---Examples: President Obama’s Inauguration, wars
Step 2: Drafting (rough draft due by class time on Friday)
You will write a three paragraph descriptive essay.
Paragraph 1: Introduce the event. Share the background of this person.
Paragraph 2: Describe specific details about the event that demonstrates its affect/importance.
Paragraph 3: Explain what you have learned from this event or what you hope to imitate.
Step 3: Revising (We will start this in class, but you may have to complete some of this on your own time, depending on how much time you spent preparing your rough draft.)
Step 4: Editing (We will peer edit in class on ______. You will need to edit your final copy before handing it in on ______.)
Step 5: Publishing and Presenting (Final copy due______). Your final copy may be typed or handwritten. You will need to hand in FIVE items: brainstorm list, outline, rough draft, final copy, & rubric
