Job Title: Test Analyst (£18-28k DOE)

Work base: 1 North Crofty, Tolvaddon Energy Park, Camborne, TR14 0HX

Reporting to: Delivery Team Lead

Main Purpose of Job:

As a Test Analyst you will work as part of an agile development team to suitably test all software developed by SCSLhealth to the agreed standards and specifications.

You will be responsible for the execution of core activities regarding the testing effort during the Software Development Lifecycle. This involves test scripting, test execution, as well as recording actual outcomes and investigating and logging defects. In addition, the production of the testing approach documentation and estimates to conduct testing. You may be required at times to work outside of normal working hours (9am-5pm) for maintenance purposes on the production environments.

The software development team follow an agile development process involving close collaboration with other teams within the business. Team members are also expected to take ownership of the software development process, working together to identify and implement improvements.

SCSLhealth operates from Tolvaddon Energy Park in Camborne within a professional, relaxed and friendly environment, focused on innovation and clear commercial targets.

Functional links with:
Technical Development Manager, Delivery Team, Delivery Team Lead, Lead Architect, Infrastructure Lead, Product Owner, Project Management Team, Customer Services Team and the Product Discovery Team.

Duties and Responsibilities.

To take responsibility for and deliver the following:

  • Contribute to the definition and update of an adequate software test strategy, methodology, procedures and guidelines that can be applied to all products under development.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of core system and processes, and how those systems and processes interact (end-to-end testing).
  • Work with colleagues, customers and business partners to understand and detail user stories and provide estimates for test effort needed.
  • Work with Product Owners and Software Developers to define acceptance criteria.
  • Develop detailed test cases and associated process steps for all User Stories within a Sprint.
  • Liaise with Product Owners and Software Developersto ensure acceptable test coverage of functional and non-functional requirements will be achieved.
  • Create and execute test scripts, investigating and logging defects in the agreed format where the expected outcomes are different from actual.
  • Attend/lead document walkthroughs and reviews of project documentation when required from a testing perspective.
  • Write, test and maintain computer programs, test scripts, and test data together with associated documentation to agreed specifications; formally or informally reviewing that documentation, specifications, acceptance criteria and requirements at the start of the process to agreed standards.

Person specification: Test Analyst

You should have the ability to analyse tasks and problems logically and to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. You will have a rigorous, methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.

Our new products are developed in a lean and agile, test driven environment and you will be introduced to and trained in our methodology.

Salary: / £18-28k DOE

You will have:

  • Experience of working with software development

  • At least 1 years’ experience of functional UI and Manual Testing
  • Experience of software testing using a Microsoft/Client based server
  • Demonstrable understanding of testing approaches and techniques
  • Solid experience in producing test plans / test cases
  • Experience of logging defects using a test management tool
  • Experience of working within an Agile team environment
  • A relevant degree level qualification or will be able to demonstrate an equivalent general level of understanding of computing and software development
  • Experience of using Test Complete
  • Experience of Automated Testing
  • Experience of using SQL databases to run queries
  • Experience with Microsoft Test Manager
  • Have knowledge or experience working in a ISO compliant industry
  • Have knowledge of the medical industry
