REPORT FROM PROJECT DIRECTOR:
Nick Quintanilla distributed the Project Budgets-Cost Report as of January 12, 2009. He stated that any projects that were completed were rolled up into the main project; the Health & PE Building is 75% done, and scheduled to be occupied by June 30, 2009. There will be some residual money left over, which will go back into contingency fund; the Family & Consumer Studies Building is 15% completed. Michele Walters stated the college will be putting the fly thru and presentation of the building on the website; the Media Arts Building will be located in the current parking lot. The project was designed under Prop A, but funds will be pulled out of Measure J for it; Student Services Center is put on hold; Instructional Student Services Building has been closed out; the Campus Center and Learning Assistance Center are now closed out; the Campus Services Building & Sheriff’s Station activity is in the Campus Administration Services Building remodeling for Reprographics, Mail Room, President’s Office, Business Office; the Bookstore will be remodeled after the current Bookstore is moved to its new location; Child Development Studies Building is a recently completed project, and at least $1M dollars will go to the contingency fund; the Instructional Building faculty offices are on schedule to be ready for the spring break; the Campus-Wide Security System, with state-of-the-art surveillance cameras, is scheduled to be completed by the end of January; the Campus Fire Safety System is almost complete and will be monitored through the Sheriff’s Station; the Entrance Monument project is scheduled to be done by the end of March; the Temporary Facilities Demolition are all closed projects;
Site Survey Infrastructure Studies involve EIR costs and administrative issues, i.e., legal and project management costs to date; the Grand Total includes some state money. Yvonne Chan stated that according to documentation given to her by the District, there was an 8M dollar difference in the Grand Total amount.
Nick said that the District numbers include bond interest that is added to their grand total, but that is not included in the campus grand total. He also stated that there are a lot of SFP matching projects that the state pays the District that is reflected in their total. However, he said he will look into this. Bonnie suggested that it would help the committee members if they could see a separate line item for bond interest dollars.
REPORT FROM COLLEGE PRESIDENT.
The president asked if the solar panels were included in Prop A/AA. Nick stated that they were rolled into the Measure J projects. The President said two sites have been identified for satellite locations. One is the Home Depot in Sunland. She stated that for Measure J projects she has created an advisory committee as the college prepares to build the East Campus Complex. The committee will consist of business people in health related fields. The President stated that we will not have a nursing program, but we could provide bridge programs for LVNs. Also, the design of the East Campus Complex has been decided upon, and Nick will bring renderings of the building to the next meeting.
