DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

OFFICE OF BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS DEVELOPMENT

SUMMARY

As a member of the Office of Business Partnerships and Development team, this position helps conduct the financial development of one of the nation’s largest career and technical student organizations. This position assists in cultivating and stewarding donorsresulting in financial contributions for SkillsUSA, Inc. This positionassists in identifying and writing proposals to obtain grants from various sources including foundations, corporations, etc. as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSE OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Five to eight years of full-time fundraising experience with a record of goal-driven success, with particular focus on management of a corporate giving portfolio. Must possess high-level written and verbal communication skills and be skilled in the areas of relationship management, sales, research and management/data collection. Must be highly organized with a passion for getting the details right.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Frequent travel to meet with partners and prospects is required.
  • Responsible for meeting an established fundraising goal annually.
  • Writes grant proposals to selected incumbent and prospective donors with focus on corporate and foundation donors.
  • Participates in prospect research and prospect review.
  • Executes moves management tactics to cultivate and steward incumbent and prospective contributors and business partners to SkillsUSA’s mission.
  • Serves as a BPD liaison as assigned to partners and prospects in satisfying their needs/requests.
  • Prepares donor and prospect correspondence as appropriate.
  • Participates in preparation of reports on BPD activity for SkillsUSAleadership.
  • Assists in the administration of partner benefits to SkillsUSA’s financial and in-kind contributors.
  • Participates in reporting to donors on the use and outcomes of their donations.
  • Participates in departmental and SkillsUSA organizational decision-making and goal setting as appropriate.
  • Manages and coordinates special events as needed.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

  • Assists with the design and publication specifications of the annual Awards & Recognition Book and annual report.
  • Assists as needed in the tracking of donor and prospect information in paper and electronic files.
  • Required to attend the annual National Leadership Skills Conference each June.
  • Assists with donor cultivation and stewardship efforts at the National Leadership and Skills Conference.
  • Participates in training sessions of the SkillsUSA state associations directors’ meetings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Partnerships & Development and/or the Executive Director.

SUPERVISES/AUTHORITY:Supervisory authority as assigned by the Executive Director or the Director of Business Partnerships & Development.
