Scottish Government awards grant to CCPS for Workforce Development

The Scottish Government has awarded CCPS a grant with the aim to assist “social services providers in the voluntary sector to fully contribute to the national workforce development agenda and maximise their capacity to self-manage the development of their workforce.”

This will build on the previous work of the CCPS Workforce Unit and Development Network, and focus on the workforce development implications arising from key Scottish Government policy areas affecting voluntary sector care and support providers, including leadership; self-directed support; the integration of health and social care; and workforce registration and regulation.

The grant will assist CCPS, throughan expanded Workforce Development Network:

  • To work in collaboration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and other key partners, in order to build workforce capacity and leadership in voluntarysector social services providers.
  • To strengthen the influence and impact of voluntary sector social service providers on the national workforce policy agenda, through acting as a voice of, and advocating for, their interests.

The deliverables under the four agreed work themes are:

Leadership

  • Voluntary sector leaders are supported to engage with and contribute fully to the cross-sector Scottish Social Services Leaders Forum and to the development of the SSSC leadership activity around the agendas for SDS and integration in particular.
  • Voluntary sector employers are guided and supported to make use of the SSSC ‘Step into Leadership’ tools and resources to develop leadership capacity within their workforces.

Self-directed Support

  • The implementation of the self-directed support workforce action plan is fully informed by the workforce development implications for voluntary sector employers.
  • Voluntary sector employers are fully engaged with the implementation of the self-directed support workforce action plan.

Health and social care integration

  • The development of health and social care integration legislation, regulations and associated guidance is fully informed by the workforce development implications for voluntary sector social services employers.
  • Voluntary sector social services employers are fully engaged with the implementation of the health and social care integration agenda.

Registration and Regulation

  • Voluntary sector employers are guided and supported to comply with SSSC registration requirements and are fully engaged with, and are able to influence, both policy and practice developments.
  • Voluntary sectoremployers are encouraged and supported to make use of workforce planning and planning tools to inform their workforce development plans and provide input to national collections as requested.
  • Voluntary sector employers are guided to comply with Care Inspectorate requirements in respect of training plans, safer recruitment etc.
