If you would like to give a love offering, to Mr. Harris, please designate it “ Leonard Harris Appreciation Fund”. Following the morning worship hour there will be a covered dish luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.
In a previous flyer, concerning the appreciation day for Leonard, we asked you to write down your favorite “Leonard story”. A basket will be placed in the atrium for anyone to place a note, a card or a memorable photo that you would like to share as a keepsake for Leonard commemorating all that he has meant to the membership of Flat Springs.
From a Delivery Boy to a Deliverer
I Samuel 17:17-23; 34-37
INTRODUCTION
This is one of the most famous stories in all of Scripture, the story of the underdog overcoming the champion. Against all odds, the small boy will do what we can’t imagine could be done. How did David move from a young boy delivering food to his brothers to delivering the entire army of Israel from a standoff with the Philistines? How can God change us from who we are to whom He wants us to be?
I. Follow Directions
a. David was doing what his Father told him to do.
b. Transformation occurs when we are obedient to our Father.
II. Find Your Devotion
a. If there is anything we are going to discover out of this study it will be that David was devoted to God.
b. Transformation occurs when our devotion is to God.
III. Fulfill Your Destiny
a. God’s desire for the church is to be a transforming place where we become all that God created us to be.
b. When we are constantly being transformed we are moving toward our ultimate destiny. The journey is amazing and will deliver others along the way.
CONCLUSION
Are we being transformed by the power of God? We will fulfill our destiny if we are devoted to God and following his direction.

DEEP RIVER SCHOOL MISSION PROJECT
Each year our church family assists students in need at Deep River School who might not be able to afford school supplies by donating pens, wide-ruled paper, notebooks, book bags, etc. to the school. A box is in the small kitchen where we ask that you leave school supplies for these students. We will collect donations until August 24. Thank you for caring and sharing.
FOOD TRAYS FOR DEEP RIVER SCHOOL TEACHERS
Customarily every year our church prepares a light lunch for the teachers first day back at school. Anyone that can help out by preparing a vegetable tray, fruit tray or a tray of finger sandwiches, please contact Kay Gray as soon as possible. The teacher’s first day back is August 19th.
