Mesopotamia / Phoenician Trade

Project Instructions

Project Overview:

You will locate and label major centers of trade in Ancient Mesopotamia and surrounding areas. You’ve been given an outline map of the area on which you are to label the places where major trade occurred, as well as list symbols that represent the kinds of goods traded there.

Part 1:

Choose five places from the table to label on the map provided. Use historical atlases from the website below to locate and label the places you choose. (Put your cursor over the link, press “control” button, and click.)

Next, click on the media tab to see the maps.

Part 2:

Label the places on your map accurately. Because the map is not very large, you will need to write neatly and rather small. Please spell each place correctly.

Part 3:

On the map, draw a symbol in each place you listed to show what goods were traded there. You’ll need to have a key somewhere on your map to show what product each symbol represents.

Part 4:

Add color. Keep it neat! Last, label all bodies of water on the map.
