PRACTICAL NURSE PROGRAM

2013-2014

Licensed practical nurses are prepared to give direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or a registered nurse. Employment areas include extended care facilities, hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics, military and home health agencies. This program is approved by the Colorado State Board of Nursing and prepares students for the state licensure exam.

PROGRAM LENGTH:Prerequisite courses (13 credits) can be completed in 6-12 months. Evening prerequisites courses are not offered.A student completes the admission process by submitting a completed portfolio. The 41-credit practical nursing programis 11 months. The program starts once per year in August. Classes meet full-time days--8a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.Clinical hours vary. Evening and part-time nursing programs are not available.EmilyGriffithTechnicalCollege does not offer a registered nurse (RN) program.

FINANCIAL AID:

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) also referred to as Pell Grant is the only federalfinancial aid offered at EmilyGriffithTechnicalCollege. It is recommended that you apply on-line at least 6 weeks before you begin the Practical Nurse Program. Help for the financial aid application process is available through the Financial Aid Office, phone 720 423-4744. Refer to Payment Plan. Prerequisites courses are not eligible for financial aid reimbursement. More than one funding source is strongly recommended.
