The University of Cape Town is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in the Division of Forensic Medicine.

The appointment is a three-year, full-time contract post. It offers a specialisation at Master’s level in Biomedical Forensic Science.

The successful candidate will participate in the teaching programs at postgraduate level and associated administrative duties.

Requirements:

·  Minimum of a Masters or equivalent in Forensic Science or related biomedical sciences field

·  Knowledge and experience in forensics and/or molecular techniques

·  Evidence of strong educational administrative skills

·  Computer skills including database management and related packages.

The following would be advantageous:

·  Post graduate experience as a forensic scientist or in a laboratory

·  Track record of research and postgraduate student supervision

Responsibilities:

·  Support programme coordinator

·  Teaching and curriculum design

·  Contribute to management of projects, funds, laboratory equipment and database

·  Participate in internal quality management of educational programmes

·  Participate in staff development and other continuing educational programmes

·  May supervise research projects at various post-graduate levels

·  Work coherently in a team within the Faculty and UCT

·  Initiate research, write research proposals and research grant applications.

The annual remuneration package, including benefits, is R362220 – R484 656.
