Teaching Assistants (2)

Teaching Assistants (TAs) will work with module lecturers and the Director of Undergraduate Studies to facilitate student groups in the first year of the undergraduate programme. TAs will, with guidance, facilitate group work and discussions, carry out individual and group exercises, and assist with assessment. Attendance at lectures and meetings throughout the academic year will be required. Office hours for student mentoring and administration will be expected.

Duration: One academic year

Salary: Paid per hour as occasional staff

Senior Teaching Assistant (1)

The Senior Teaching Assistant (TA) will work with module lecturers and Director of Undergraduate Studies to facilitate student groups in the first year of the undergraduate programme. The Senior Teaching Assistant will, with guidance, facilitate group work and discussions with student groups, carry out individual and group exercises, and assist with assessment. Attendance at lectures and meetings throughout the academic year will be required. Office hours for student mentoring and administration will be expected. In addition, the Senior Teaching Assistant will assist in the coordination of the first year Teaching Assistant programme.

Requirements:

The Senior Teaching Assistant will normally be expected to be a registered upper-level postgraduate research student, ideally with relevant experience.

The Tutor(s) will work with module lecturers and the Director of Undergraduate Studies to facilitate student groups in the second year of the undergraduate programme. The Tutor will, with guidance, facilitate group work and discussions, manage an ethnographic field exercise, and will be partially responsible for assessment. Attendance at lectures and meetings throughout the academic year will be required. Office hours for student mentoring and administration will be expected.

Requirements:

Tutor(s) will be expected to be registered postgraduate students and, ideally, have relevant experience.

Lecturer/Subject Leader (1) – Kilkenny Campus First Arts Programme

The Department of Anthropology offers a First Arts Programme in the University’s Kilkenny Campus and a new NUI Certificate in Anthropology. We are recruiting a Lecturer to deliver our First Arts modules in Kilkenny, coordinate delivery of tutorials, examinations matters, and maintain progress such that it matches the delivery of the programme in Maynooth.

Requirements:

The Lecturer/Subject Leader will be expected to be a registered upper-level postgraduate student or, ideally, a recent PhD graduate. Considerable lecturing and small-group tutoring experience is required. Experience in a similar role or in first-year lecturing is highly desirable.

Duration: One academic year
