University Career Colleague Program
Bentley University Career Services Career Colleague Program is a leadership program wherein Bentley students work closely with Career Services staff to develop initiatives to address the needs of Bentley’s student populations.
Students can apply for one of four different paid positions within the program:
1. Student Director: Two (2) Student Directors will be responsible for coordinating and managing the entire UCC Program. This includes running all large-group meetings, managing the colleague team, acting as a liaison between the team and staff, developing trainings and events, and facilitating scheduling and other operational aspects of the program. They will also, in part, take on some of the day to day responsibilities of Undergraduate Career Colleagues (see below). Ideally, the Student Directors must be well organized, have great communication skills and are able to think in a big picture and long-term strategic manner. These students must be rising seniors (YOG: 2017) and will preferably have previous experience as a Career Colleague or in another leadership position on campus. This paid position requires 10-12 hours per week during the 2016-2017 academic year; work-study authorization is preferred but not required.
2. CareerEdge Colleagues: Two (2) CareerEdge Colleagues will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Bentley CareerEdge website. This includes creating and sustaining an editorial calendar for content on the site, coordinating job and event postings, creating innovative content and running Career Services’ various social media channels. Ideally, the CareerEdge Colleagues must possess great attention to detail, excellent writing skills and a creative way of thinking. These students must be rising sophomores or juniors (YOG: 2018 or 2019). This paid position requires 10 hours per week during the 2016-2017 academic year; work-study authorization is preferred but not required.
3. Think Tank Colleagues: Two (2) Think Tank Colleagues will be responsible for continuous and constant innovation within Bentley Career Services. These students will work closely with executive leadership and office staff to enhance Career Services’ initiatives through research and analysis. This includes improving workshops, events, the Career Fair, attendance, and general office policies and structure as a whole. Ideally, the Think Tank Colleagues must be innovators and love thinking outside the box when solving problems. These students must be rising sophomores or juniors (YOG: 2018 or 2019). This paid position requires 10 hours per week during the 2016-2017 academic year; work-study authorization is preferred but not required.
4. Undergraduate Career Colleagues: Four (4) Undergraduate Career Colleagues will be leaders in the Bentley community responsible for working with freshmen and sophomore students on resumes and cover letter development and career search process questions, co-facilitating CDI 101 and 201 classes, and assisting in the management and administration of new Career Communities. Ideally, the Undergraduate Career Colleagues must be personable, have great attention to detail, and have a passion for helping others. These students must be rising juniors or seniors (YOG: 2017 or 2018).
