ATTENDANCE MATTERS

At Kelvin Grove, we have a commitment to ensure our children are given the best opportunity to achieve their potential. Good attendance is essential to this and this year we will be focussing on raising attendance levels in school. We understand that there are many reasons for pupil absence and we would like to support you in any way we can with this. You may receive a letter today regarding your child’s attendance if it was below the Government target of 96.4% for the last academic year. You are very welcome to contact Mrs Thompson or Mrs Philips for more information or support. We hope we can work together successfully on this.

JEANS FOR GENES DAY

On Friday 18th September it will be Jeans for Genes Day. This year they are celebrating their 20th year. Over the years our school and thousands of others have helped to raise over £40 million just by asking everyone to wear their jeans for the day. We will be taking part in Jeans for Genes Day on Friday, all pupils and staff will be invited to wear denim and to give a small donation to this charity which helps children with genetic disorders.

SCHOOL ADMISSIONS – RECEPTION AND SECONDARY

If your child is currently a Nursery or Year 6 pupil you will have received an application form to apply for your child’s next school place. Application forms must be returned by 31st October 2015 (for Secondary places) or 15th January 2016 (for Primary/Reception places). Parents who apply after the deadline dates seriously jeopardise their chances of their child getting a place at their preferred school.
