Post-Trip Journal

I was really looking forward to the trip toMalaysia before. Malaysia is a country in Southeast Asia. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur but it was an unfamiliar place to me. Since it was my first time of leaving Hong Kong for a holiday, my mother reminded me that I should take care of myself. I was excited because it was my first time to travel abroad but at the same time I was worried because I had to be independent during the trip. Itwasrather contradictory.
When the trip began, I was still looking forward toMalaysia. Everything was new to me. Travelling by air was my new experience. The facilities on the plane wereso advanced. I could watch films and listen to the music which were the latest on the plane. When I looked out from the window, the clouds were so close to me."Notis" (notice) could be found on theboards at KL airport. Actually, some of the Malay words are similar to English. Forexample, "Notis","Teksi" (taxi).
We visited many places during the trip. For example, KL Tower, Twin Towers, Bukit Tinggi, Central Market, Petaling Street, Putrajaya and Batu Cave. I like Central Market andJalan Alor. I bought many local products and souvenirs in Central Market. There were some durian products which were delicious. Jalan Alor is extremely popularfor offering delicious food served in a traditional open-air atmosphere, with chairs and tables on the curbs and road-side. Bak kut teh, is a Chinesesoup popularly served in Malaysia, was delicate. On top of KL Tower, there was an observation deck. I got a bird's eye view of the city. It was wonderful! The PetronaTowers (TwinTowers) are the highest buildings in Kuala Lumpur. The TwinTowers appeared like crystal towers at night. Also, Putra Mosque was beautiful in Putrajaya. It wasthe most impressivearchitecture I had seen on this trip. Besides, one of public transportation inMalaysia ismonorail which is a rail-based transportation system based on a single rail. The carriages are small comparing with the ones in Hong Kong.
Last but not least, I visited International Islamic University Malaysia and stayed in IIUM Hostel. The hostel was terrible. It was grimy like a dump. There weresoft drinks left on the desk. A cup of noodle was on the floor. Also, bits of snacks were found everywhere in the room. The food attracted ants and cockroaches. I was speechless when I knew that I had to stay there for two nights. At that moment, I missed my own bedroom at home very much. Finally, the staff of the university changed the room for us. Although the hostel was dirty, the outlook of the university was good. The students were nice and helpful. Since the universityis very big, we got lost on the campus. Some students drove us back to our hostel. The students had a barbecue at night. They invited us to join them. Their food was delicious.
In conclusion, I had different experience on this trip. Some of them were pleasant but some not. Actually, I was very pleased to have a chance to visit Malaysia. I can know more about the culture of Malaysia. The taxis charged when you buy anything. My horizonsarewidened after the trip.
