Cathie hays presented a short history about the number of Harton Reunions that have been held.

The first official Harton Reunion was held on Sunday, April 5, 1954 here at the Danevang Community Hall. (Minutes of the first Reunion were read.) There was no meeting the following year due to the death and funeral of Johanna Harton Bonugli who died April 15, 1955.

Due to a lot of mis-numbering through the years, it has become rather murky as to which

anniversary of the first reunion we were celebrating. For example, the 1958 reunion was

called the third reunion instead of being either the fourth or fifth depending upn whether

the 1955 funeral gathering was considered a reunion. Later in our records both the 1974

and the 1975 meetings were called the 22nd reunion.

June 11, 1978 was designated the 25th anniversary of the first official gathering of the Harton clan. Because of this, 1955 was included as a meeting. (Minutes of the 25th reunion were read.)

We celebrated June 23, 1991 as the 40th reunion. However, once again there was a leap from the 35th reunion held in 1988 (which is correct) to the 38th reunion held in 1989. I’m guessing that this happened when the brain said one thing but the hand did something different.

So in conclusion, this year’s reunion is officially the 60th anniversary of the 1954 reunion will be so noted.
