TASK / Text Response: The Hound of the Baskervilles
WHAT TO DO / Having examined techniques and ideas in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskerville’s, your task is to compose a formal essay responding to one of the following topics:
Ø  Are themes or techniques more important in The Hound of the Baskervilles? Try to consider more than one perspective in your response.
Ø  ‘Sherlock Holmes is the most important character in The Hound of the Baskervilles.’ Argue for or against this statement.
Ø  How does the author use literary devices to create mystery and suspense throughout The Hound of the Baskervilles?
Make sure to:
·  Fluently incorporate quotes from the text into your essay
·  Identify literary techniques and their impact
·  Use formal language (no contractions, write out numbers, underline titles and use a thesaurus to improve your word choice)
·  Thoughtfully structure your essay and paragraphs
