Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Association announces
2011 Spring Convention: “75 Years of Service and Dedication”
The 2011 Spring Convention of the Minnesota Speech-Language-Hearing Association will be held on April 8 and 9, 2011, at the Ramada Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota. This two-day convention traditionally features an exceptional lineup of presentations and professional development opportunities. This year’s national headline presentations are:
· Karen Cadigan, Ph.D., Policy Director at the Children, Youth, and Family Consortium, University of Minnesota (half day) – Contemporary Developments in Early Childhood Research, Policy and Practice
· Melissa Duff, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders and Neuroscience Communication and Memory Laboratory (Director), University of Iowa (full day) – Memory and Memory Disorders: From Taxonomies to Treatment
· Jane E. Minnema, Ph.D., Associate Professor, ECSE, Child and Family Studies Department, St. Cloud State University (half day) – Speech-Language Pathologists’ Importance in Early Childhood Special Education: Creating Supportive Learning Environments for Young Children with Disabilities
· Eric Sailers, M.A., Speech-Language Pathologist, La Mesa-Spring Valley School District (half day) – iPod touch and iPad for Children in Speech-Language Therapy: AAC, Articulation, and Oral-Language Solutions
· Lyn S. Turkstra, Ph.D., BC-ANCDS, Associate Professor, University of Wisconsin, Madison (full day) – Update on Assessment and Treatment of Adolescents and Adults with Acquired Cognitive-Communication Disorders
· Carol Westby, Ph.D., Consultant, Bilingual Multicultural Services (full day) – Developing Social and Academic Language: Optimizing Classroom Success
The convention offers more than 30 sessions across five simultaneous tracks, as well as posters and contributed papers, roundtable sessions, Vendor Academy sessions, a silent auction fundraiser, countless networking opportunities, and exhibits by vendors showcasing products and services. 13.5clockhours (ASHA CEUs) have been applied for!
