Book Report Menu: Term 3

*Students may only do each project on the menu once in the term.

*Story Elements must be included in the project: characters, setting, plot, problem/objective, and solution.

Diorama:
Create a three dimensional scene of the most important part of the story. Label the characters and the setting. Write a summary on paper summarizing what your scene represents. Diorama must include color and combination of handmade and premade props. / New Book Cover:
Create a new book cover for the novel you read. Draw it on a piece of construction paper. De sure to add title, author, and illustrate an important scene that best showcases your book. Drawing should be in color.
Inside should include a summary of the book. / Book Review:
Write a one-page book review. In the first paragraph introduce the book you read with two reasons why you would or would not recommend the book. Explain each reason in depth in the body (next paragraph). Write a concluding paragraph.
Character Poster:
Create a life size illustration of a character from the text. Analyze the character by discussing character traits, actions, feelings, and important quotations from the text that illustrate who the character is. / Vocabulary Analysis:
Select 5 unknown words from the text. Create a Frayer Model for each. It should include the definition, an illustration, examples/non-examples, and synonyms/antonyms of the vocabulary word. / Letter to Author:
Write a letter to the author of the book you are reading. In a minimum of three paragraphs write your reaction, generate questions about the process of writing or parts of the story. Also, write about your connection to the text.
Venn Diagram:
Compare and contrast two characters from the story. Be sure to include comparisons of actions, feelings, and character traits. Use complete sentences and add illustrations. Each part of the Venn diagram must include a minimum of 4 ideas. Project must be in color. / Cereal Box:
Decorate an old cereal box to represent the book you read. Cover the front of the box with paper and create a name for the cereal that fits the book you read. Add an illustration. On the right side of the box include “ingredients” such as main characters and their traits and the setting. On the left side, write a summary. On the back, design a game or puzzle that fits the book. On the top of the box write the title, page numbers, author, illustrator. / T-shirt:
Create a t-shirt design that fits the book you read. T-shirt design must include illustration, title, author, and a summary. T-shirts can be created using poster paper or an actual t-shirt. T-shirt must be neat, in color, and accurately reflect the book that you read.
