Kentucky Core Content and the Study Island Reading:
Revisited and Reconsidered Program
The following handout shows how Kentucky’s Core Content for Assessment aligns with the content of questions in Study Island’s Reading: R&R program.
If the Core Content Code (RD-06-1.0.2, RD-07-1.0.2, RD-08-1.0.2, etc.) is in italics, it means that it is a Supporting Content Standard, which is not used for assessment at that grade level—i.e., in the case of “RD-06-1.0.3; RD-07-1.0.3; RD-08-1.0.3,” the standard is used for assessment in sixth grade (RD-06…), but not in seventh or eighth grades.
Though Supporting Content Standards are not assessed, they are used at the local level and are “critical to the student’s deep understanding of the overall content” and are “to be used by schools to build a foundation of knowledge, skills, and processes that will enable students to be successful on the Kentucky Core Content Test.”
All questions specified in this handout refer to Vol. 1 of The World as You Know It; however, the same method used to create the content is implemented in all volumes of The World as You Know It, Graphic Planet by ABDO Books, and TheTimbertoes series.
