THE POWER OF THE BLESSING
Blessing – Definition: God’s favor (all that He is) being released to a person. Synonym of Blessing: exalt, hallow, glorify, magnify.
Hebrews 11:3 - Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Genesis 1:28 - And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.
The power of the curse did not enter until after Adam’s fall.
We now have two opposing powers: The Blessing and the Curse.
Jesus’ completed work at the cross forever removed the power of the curse. He became accursed so that we might be blessed.
Because man is made in the image (appearance) and likeness (ability) of God, we therefore have the power to frame our world with our words. Our words have creative power, for both good and harm.
The Blessing of the First Born
Once the Patriarch stretched out his hand and pronounced the blessing IT COULD NOT BE REMOVED.
Isaac blessed Jacob thinking he had blessed Esau. Once the blessing was released it could not be taken back. Even if Jacob had received the blessing through deception, it was still spoken (released) to him and even Isaac could not remove it.
What God Blesses – Man Cannot Curse
Balaam (Numbers 22)
Balak hired Balaam to curse the Children of Israel. Every time he opened his mouth he was only able to BLESS THEM.
The Aaronic Blessing
From Adam’s fall to the appearance of Jesus, God had a Plan “TO KEEP” His people. Laws were instituted to corral them, but the AARONIC BLESSING was a prophetic future plan of redemption.
God gave Aaron, as priest the ability to BLESS the people by proxy. The priestly blessing actually gave a three part picture of man’s redemption back to God.
Numbers 6:24-26 “The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
1. “The Lord bless you and keep you” – May you be kept safe and held harmless until the day that you encounter your destiny in God.
2. “The Lord make His Face shine upon you and be Gracious to you” – May you see the Light of His Glory while you are still afar off, and may His Grace lead you close to His Side.
3. “The Lord lift up His Countenance upon you and give you Peace” – As you draw near to Him, may you see Him face to face in all of His Glory. May you realize that this is what you were created to do! Doing what you see your Father do, saying what you hear your Father say. Ultimately finding in Him your place of Wholeness…“Peace” Nothing Missing and Nothing Broken.
Melchizedek – Priestly Blessing
David operated as a King and a Priest. According to Psalm 110, David prophetically receives his priestly status “after the order of Melchizedek” who was without mother, father, beginning and end (Hebrews 6). This is important, because only those that were BORN into the tribe of Levi were allowed to be priests, let alone HIGH PRIEST. David was of the tribe of Judah, the same tribe that Jesus came from.
The apostle Paul explains in Hebrews 6, that Jesus entered into the high priesthood after the order of Melchizedek. This is with a heavenly accommodation, not an earthly one according to lineage.
We have been BORN AGAIN INTO JESUS, therefore we are KINGS AND PRIESTS IN THE EARTH.
In Matthew 5, Jesus gathers his disciples and releases what we have titled, “The Sermon On The Mount”. It should have been titled: “THE BLESSING: The Progressive Work of Redemption”
NOTE: Jesus uses the past tense of the word, “Blessed”. This means that He has come to let us know that those who enter the Kingdom of God through Him are already blessed with these blessings.
We have been given the powerful responsibility, because we are IN HIM, to release these blessings to be activated by remembrance.
Colossians 1:12-22 – v.13 We have been translated from darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son.
12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:15Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.18And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.19For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;20And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled22In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
NOW..He is the FIRSTBORN – Remember the blessing of the first born? It cannot be removed! We are His FIRSTFRUIT – According to Hebrew law the “first” of anything is set apart (sanctified) as the Lord’s.
So, We are the Firstfruit of the Firstborn. And, we are ONE with the Firstborn.
Summation: WE ARE SAVED AND SET APART TO BE ONE WITH HIM. AS HE IS SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD (1 JOHN 4:17). WE ARE SEATED WITH HIM IN HEAVENLY PLACES (EPH 2:6) TO RENDER JUDGMENT AND BRING SPIRITUAL ALIGNMENT IN THE EARTH.
THE FIRST AND FOREMOST WAY TO DO THIS IS THROUGH THE BLESSING. WHY? BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THE FATHER FRAMED THE WORLD(S). HE THEN ACTIVATED WHAT HE CREATED WITH BLESSING.
WE CAN ACTIVATE WHAT LIES DORMANT IN EVERY CHILD OF GOD (MADE IN HIS IMAGE AND LIKENESS…THAT’S EVERYONE!) THROUGH THE BLESSING.
THE TEMPLATE, OR PATH OF REDEMPTION IS FOUND IN THE BLESSING OF MATTHEW 5:1-12
PLEASE SEE: “He Opened His Mouth…And Blessed Them” HE OPENED HIS MOUTH…AND BLESSED THEM!
THE PRIESTLY BLESSING - THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION
HEBREWS 4:12-13
12Forthe word of God is living andactive and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division ofsoul andspirit, of both joints and marrow, andable to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.13Andthere is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things areopen and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Note: Matthew 5:2 - “mouth” – This word in the Greek translates as sharp dividing sword. G5114 – sharp edge of a sword. G2875 – to cut, to strike.
MATTHEW 5

11“Blessed are you whenpeopleinsult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.12Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; forin the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
John 17
The High Priestly Prayer
17Jesus spoke these things; andlifting up His eyes to heaven, He said,“Father, the hour has come;glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You,2even asYou gave Him authority over all flesh, thattoall whom You have given Him,He may give eternal life.3This is eternal life, that they may know You,the only true God, and Jesus Christ whomYou have sent.4I glorified You on the earth, having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do.5Now, Father, glorify (BLESS) Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I hadwith You before the world was.
