- Слайд : The Queen and Parliament.
Every year the Queen opens Parliament. Million people watch her on TV. She is the most famous woman in Britain, and she is a Head of the Church of England.
2. Слайд: King Henry VIII.
Henry VIII was born in 1491, He had six wives:
In 1509 he married Catherine of Aragon, they had daughter, but no son. Henry VIII wanted a son.
He married Ann, but she had a daughter, not a son.
In 1536, Henry’s Soldiers killed Ann. He married Jane. Jane had a son- at last. But then she died.
Next woman was Ann of Cleves.
In 1541 Henry married a beautiful seventeen-year-old girl called Catherine Howard. But Catherine didn’t love him. Henry’s soldiers killed her.
Henry’s sixth wife was Catherine Parr. She lived longer than him. In 1547 Henry died.

Henry said: “ I am the king of England! I want - the Pope in Rome. Then he took all the Church’s money and buildings. The King is the most important person in the Church of England now, not the Pope.”

Ann Boleyn’s daughter, Elizabeth, was one of England’s most famous queens. Elizabeth was Queen of England and Wales for forty-five years, but she had no husband and no children. At this time England was a strong , happy country. Elizabeth died in 1603.
5. Слайд: King Charles and Oliver Cromwell.
After Elizabeth , Mary’s ( Catherine of Aragon’s daughter)son, James, was king.
James’s son, King Charles I, he wanted money for ships and soldiers, but important people of Parliament didn’t want to give him. Oliver Cromwell was the most important man in the country. Cromwell’s men killed King Charles.

Parliament was string in 1688; today it is much stronger. The most important people in Britain work in Parliament every day, but the Queen goes there once a year.

George VI and Elizabeth had daughter Elizabeth II, she was born in 1926, and she was Queen in 1952.

Queen Elizabeth II is also Queen of Australia, Canada, New Zealand.
The Queen opens Parliament every year. Every Christmas she talks to their people on TV, and people in hottest Australia and coldest Canada sit and listen to her at the same time. People like her.

Diana Princess of Wales was wife of Prince Charles (1981-1996s). They had two sons: William and Harry. Princess Diana was rich and beautiful, she helped people, she visited children in hospitals, in 1989, she visited hospital for people with AIDS, she wasn’t afraid. People loved her. In Africa she visited hospitals for lepers, she touched the lepers and talked to them. They need help and love.
In 1997 of September in Paris Princess Diana died in the car accident. Million people put thousands of flowers in front of Diana’s home, Kensington Palace. People watched and cried.
Diana, “The People’s Princess”, was dead.
