JOHN WESLEY – led by Barbara Hudson. The Class is studying a series of lessons based on the book the Gospel of John and the book "Just Give Me Jesus" by Anne Graham Lotz.
NOMADS’ – Nomads class will be studying the full armor of God’. Everyone is invited to join us in this 8 week study by Dr. David Jeremiah called “Spiritual Warfare: Terms of Engagement”. This study is based on Ephesians 6:10-18. Dr. Jeremiah will explain the nature of spiritual warfare and describe how to use each piece of the armor God has provided for us. As Christians we have already won the battle through Christ; however we should know Satan’s strategies and the reality of the war we are in.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those
Who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Congregation of the First United Methodist Church is to continue to be a committed fellowship of disciples sharing the love of God through Jesus Christ and furnishing a place of Christian worship, programs, services and facilities for its members and the people of the Johnson City area.
Teddy Bear Ministry
You are invited to hold a bear during joys and concerns and then take it and give it to someone who needs a word of encouragement, healing, or up-lifting. We ask that you do not take one for yourself. We also welcome bears that you would like to donate. They don’t have to be new.
We are able to clean most “old” bears.

Call to Worship BOW #455
Leader: You have come from afar and waited long and are wearied.
All: Let us sit side by side, sharing the same bread drawn from the same source to quiet the same hunger that makes us weak.
Leader: Then standing together let us share the same spirit, the same thoughts that once again draw us together in friendship and unity and peace.
All: Amen.

Heal us with your tender touch, that we might be cleansed of all unclean thoughts, all schemes of revenge, all hope of vindictive retribution.
Open our eyes to the power of love, shown to us in the unselfish sacrifice of your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Today’s Scripture
Common English Bible
2 Corinthians 8:7-15
7Be the best in this work of grace in the same way that you are the best in everything, such as faith, speech, knowledge, total commitment, and the love we inspired in you. 8I’m not giving an order, but by mentioning the commitment of others, I’m trying to prove the authenticity of your love also. 9You know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Although he was rich, he became poor for our sakes, so that you could become rich through his poverty.
10I’m giving you my opinion about this. It’s to your advantage to do this, since you not only started to do it last year but you wanted to do it too. 11Now finish the job as well so that you finish it with as much enthusiasm as you started, given what you can afford. 12A gift is appreciated because of what a person can afford, not because of what that person can’t afford, if it’s apparent that it’s done willingly. 13It isn’t that we want others to have financial ease and you financial difficulties, but it’s a matter of equality. 14At the present moment, your surplus can fill their deficit so that in the future their surplus can fill your deficit. In this way there is equality. 15As it is written, The one who gathered more didn’t have too much, and the one who gathered less didn’t have too little.
