MACON COUNTY COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING

JANUARY 14, 2011

MINUTES

The Macon County Commission Regular meeting was called to order at 10:04 a.m. by Chairman Louis Maxwell. The Honorable Louis Maxwell, Chairman offered prayer.

The following Commission members and staff were present Chairman Louis Maxwell, Commissioners: Albert Daniels, District #two, Andrew D. Thompson Jr, District #three and Robert M. Berry, District #four, Susan B. Thomas, Finance Director/Clerk and Gertrude S. Benjamin, Personnel Director/Treasurer.

Upon roll call the Chairman declared a quorum present.

1. Commissioner Berry moved to adopt the agenda. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Daniels, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

2. Commissioner Robinson moved to adopt the minutes for the December 13, 2010 with any necessary corrections. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Berry, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

3. Commissioner Robinson moved to approve payment of bills and invoices for the month of December 2010 contingent upon review and signatures of the Commissioners. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, and the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

4. Commissioner Berry moved to approve payment of all budgeted overtime submitted for the month of December for the Bingo, General, and Gasoline Funds. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

5. Commissioner Robinson moved to hire Maurice Brunson contingent upon the Chairman’s recommendation after discussion with the Sheriff and identifying and adjusting the budget if necessary. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Robinson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

6. Commissioner Robinson moved to accept the Chairman recommendation to approve the Dispatch replacement hire: Ratisha Crawford, rate $7.25 replacing William Harden; Crystal Griffith rate $7.25 replacing Amber Moore effective January 1, 2010 and Patsy R. Bass rate $7.50 replacing Crystal Griffith, effective January 29, 2010. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

7. Commissioner Berry moved to authorize bid for SAFE House (5) for Macon County to be received by the next regular meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioners Daniels and Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

8. Commissioner Berry moved to approve the transfer of sick leave (per request from Patricia Mahone) from Valarie Smith who has resigned from the County’s employ. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

9. Commissioner Robinson moved to accept the Finance Director’s Report. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

10. Commissioner Thompson moved to authorize bids for gas system and tanks, M-10, liquid Asphalt, and asphalt sand, to be received by Friday, before the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Robinson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

11. Commissioner Robinson moved to accept the Engineer’s Report. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

12. Commissioner Daniels moved to accept the Chairman’s Report. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

13. Commissioner Thompson moved to authorize Direct Support and modify it to include Notasulga Band Booster. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Daniels, the motion carried by the motion carried by unanimous majority vote in favor of the motion

14. Commissioner Berry moved to adopt resolution/proclamation Auburn University and Valarie Smith. The motion was seconded by Commissioners Robinson and Thompson, the motion carried by unanimous vote in favor of the motion.

15. Commissioner Thompson moved to adjourn.
