We know that DNA is white but what does YOUR DNA look like?

Please pick a materials manager to get a try and bring it back to your table.

Please follow directions with the class

Step 1: Please suck in your cheeks 3 times like Ms. B is so elegantly showing you.

Step2: When time is called, please drink in all the liquid and start swishing it around your mouth. You will need to do this for 2 minutes. If you swallow your liquid you will not be able to do the project and will have an alternate assignment due at the end of class.

Step 3: When time is called spit your drink back into the specimen jar provided.

Step 4: Add 2 pipettes of dish soap to the spit jar and start to gently swirl around. (30 seconds)

Step 5: Add 2 pipettes of the MT Solution to the spit jar and swirll gently for 30 seconds

Step 6: I will bring COLD alcohol to your table, add 2 pipettes to your jar and leave for 1 minute.

Step 7: Use the skewer to pull your DNA out and place it on a slide.

When you have your DNA sample you will be able to use a micrscope to look at it and then return to your seat and draw what your DNA looked like under the scope.
