What is Living On?

Living On provides the opportunity for people who have lost a loved one to MND to come together to seek new directions, whilst exploring ways of retaining treasured memories. It is offered to people who have been bereaved for more than twelve months and less than twenty four.

Living On is a four-week program comprised of:

  • Facilitated discussion
  • Resources and information
  • Opportunities to meet people in a similar situation to yourself

How does the program work?

The program consists of four weekly sessions. Each session is two and a half hours in length.In a small group, we discuss topics that are important to the participants. Although the program is structured, we aim to consider and discuss key issues facing group members.

Who comes to the program?

  • People who have cared for someone with MND and are at least twelve months bereaved.
  • People who are seeking new ways of living
  • People wanting to give and receive support
  • People wanting to explore change and new strategies for
    everyday living

Is there a charge for Living On?

Living On is free of charge.

What do the sessions involve?

Session 1: The mirror shatters: life has changed forever
Reflecting on participants stories so far: the diagnosis, the role of the carer
and end of life issues.
Session 2: Sifting through the pieces: reflecting on life after loss
Identification of what was difficult and what helped participants after the loss.
Session 3: Fitting the pieces together: making sense of life after loss
Making sense of what has happened in the past and seeking balance in life.
Session 4: Building a new mirror: a future life
Setting goals for the future and the barriers and supports to achieving them.
