SCHOLARSHIP RULES
1.Scholarships shall be awarded by theSocieta Di Mutuo Soccorso Bocce Classic Scholarship Committee to members orchildren of members or grandchildren of members of the OSIA and John Pirelli Lodge #1633.
2. Applicants failing to submit all required documentation will automatically be disqualified
3.Application will not be considered unless it has been postmarked no later than June 30, 2013.
4.Payment of the scholarship grant can be made to either (1) the student or (2) the College or University fortuition only. Payment guidelines will be explained to the recipients.
5.Scholarship Awards are limited to seniors graduating from High School, or students already enrolled in aCollege and entering their sophomore, Junior or Senior year. The applicant must be enrolling in a four-yearAccreditedCollege or University, and must be considered a full-timestudent carrying 12 hours minimum.Graduate students are not eligible to participate.
6.Awards shall be made on the following basis:
A)Scholarship Ability
B)Character
C)Extracurricular Activities and Participation
D)Financial Need, if applicable. (Please submit explanation of financial need)
7.Students may reapply each year for a scholarship, but recipients may not reapply in consecutive years.
8.Recipients will receive notification of award status by mail, and be presented with scholarships at the Bocce Classic XIX on July 19, 2013
WHAT’S REQUIRED
1.Your completed and signed application.
2.A current letter of recommendation from your High School Principal or Guidance Counselor, if currently aSenior in High School.
3.A letter of recommendation from your College Advisor, if you are presently enrolled in a College or University.
4.A current letter of recommendation from a person who has known you for at least three years.
5.A letter from your current employer, verifying employment.
6.A letter from your coach, club or extracurricular leader.
6.Your own current letter, stating your reasons for applying and listing your particular interestsand activities.List the size and circumstances of your family, how you expect to finance your education, and any otherinformation you may consider pertinent! Important regarding why you may deserve a scholarship.
7.A small photo of yourself.
8.High School students must submit their official transcript of high school grades. Collegestudents must submittheir most recent official transcript. Copies without the school seal/official mark areunacceptable.
