I. Call to order at 10:04 AM
II. Approval of Minutes
None
III. Introductions / Announcements
A. Meeting moved from Science III, 100 to EDUC 246 due to double-booking of room.
B. AH: Kindly send notice to committee chair if unable to attend a regularly scheduled meeting in order to ensure quorum is met.
IV. Approval of Agenda
A. Hedge called for a motion to approve the agenda for the Budget and Planning Committee was made by A. Hegde. Upon motion made and seconded, motion carried by consensus.

VI. New Business
A. Revised Academic Calendar
1. Academic Calendar 2017-18
i. JZ noted an edit to the newly proposed 2017-18 Academic Calendar, the edit is to change Reading Day from “December 12, Wednesday” to “December 12, Tuesday”.
ii. Concern regarding the small window of time between “Fall Semester Finals” and “Grades Due” was expressed.
iii. The committee was satisfied with the proposed 2017-18 Academic Calendar with the suggested edits:
1. Reading Day – December 12, Tuesday
2. Academic Calendar 2018-19
i. Discussion regarding the “Reading Day” in 2018-19 Academic Calendar took place. It was removed in the proposed calendar, but the committee requested to add it. JZ will check that the edited version will work within the “180 days rule”.
ii. The committee was satisfied with the proposed 2018-19 Academic Calendar with the suggested edits:
1. Reading Day – December 11, Tuesday
2. Fall Semester Finals – December 12-18, Wed.-Tues.
3. Evaluation Period – December 19, Wednesday
4. Grades Due – December 20-21, Thurs. – Fri.
5. Winter Break – December 22-Jan. 17, Sat. – Sat.
3. Summer Session 2017
i. The committee was satisfied with the proposed 2017 Summer Session Calendar with the suggested edits:
1. First Day of Classes – July 5
2. Last Day of Classes – August 4
4. A. Hedge called for a motion to table the approval of the calendar until Provost Zorn is able to confirm that the new dates work with semester calendar guidelines by A. Hegde. Upon motion made and seconded, motion carried by consensus.
B. Custodial and Maintenance concerns
1. DB: reported that faculty have expressed concerns on building cleanliness, maintenance, safety, infrastructure updates, etc.
2. The floor was opened for discussion.
i. It was suggested that Facilities mirror the process of IT with the work order/ticket process.
ii. It was suggested that Pat work with Academic Senate to provide an update on his “list of projects”.
iii. It was suggested to contact IT for a breakdown of their ticketing process in order to present the option to Pat Jacobs.
iv. It was suggested to invite Pat Jacobs to the next Budget and Planning Committee meeting
C. BA in History with Emphasis in Public History Proposal
1. A. Hedge called for a motion to table the discussion of the BA in History with Emphasis in Public History Proposal to the next Budget and Planning Committee meeting. Upon motion made and seconded, motion carried by consensus.
VII. Adjourn
A. Hegde called for a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:29AM. Upon motion made and seconded, motion carried by consensus.
