Purpose of Job / To create content for the CWGC website, publications and other channels.
To deliver effective and creative media relations on the CWGCs activities in our Africa and Asia Pacific Area (AAPA) working closely with the Marketing and Communications team to promote our activities globally.
To support the Commission’s commemoration and community engagement activities.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Media relations
·  To work as a versatile member of the Marketing and Communications team.
·  To draft compelling and interesting news stories and editorial content across multiple formats including press releases, articles, newsletters, case studies and web copy.
·  To build an excellent, proactive working relationship with key media in our Africa and Asia Pacific Area (AAPA) to further the positive profile of the CWGC.
·  Liaise regularly with the Area Director to identify and exploit opportunities within AAPA to raise awareness of the CWGCs operations – thus placing the work of our AAPA operations on a proactive and positive footing.
·  To provide a professional/timely response to media enquiries and create a media queries log mechanism and keep it updated.
·  To act as a media spokesperson when required.
·  To organise media interviews, visits and announcements.
·  To monitor and evaluate media coverage and produce media reports.
·  To help with the development and implementation of specific media campaigns – drafting, implementing and evaluating media relations plans and advising on media/news angles.
Team Performance (where applicable)
·  To work to objectives set by the Media and Marketing Manager.
·  To work collaboratively with all members of the External Relations Team -- in particular the Marketing and Communications team.
·  To proactively identify individual training and development needs.
Project Responsibilities (where applicable)
·  To develop and engage with AAPA-wide projects as required.
Key contacts and relationships
·  Reports to the Media and Marketing Manager.
·  Collaborative working with all members of the External Relations Team – in particular the Marketing and Communications team.
·  External stakeholders – liaison with external stakeholders including the media, researchers and historians, partner organisations and the general public, contractors, suppliers, print, design and photographic agencies.
·  Internal stakeholders – including senior management, Areas and departments.
Knowledge & qualifications/experience required
·  Education to degree level or equivalent level qualification.
·  Experience of creating high-level, written content (at least three years).
·  Image research and editing.
·  Experience of conducting/arranging television/radio interviews (desirable).
·  Experience in using CMS and/or social media management systems (desirable).
·  A qualification in PR, communications or journalism (desirable).
·  Full driving licence.
