Your donation will help buy equipment for the Almonte General Hospital
As the renovation and expansion of the Almonte General Hospital (AGH) nears completion, the AGH/Fairview Manor Foundation is gearing up to raise funds to buy Hospital equipment.
“The Hospital has more than $540,000 in medical equipment requests for 2008-09,” says Foundation Executive Director Gerry Huddleston. “This equipment will enhance patient care in almost every area of AGH.”
The Emergency Department equipment request list includes a portable ultrasound machine ($51,800), a vital signs monitor for triage ($6,000), a portable Doppler to assess blood flow through arteries ($1,500), two cardiac monitors ($14,000 each) and a defibrillator ($3,000).
The Obstetrical Unit would like to purchase a labour and delivery room bed ($30,000), two wall-mounted vital signs monitors ($2,000 each), two fetal heart monitors ($5,000 each), a med cart ($6,000), five recliners for patient rooms ($2,000 each) and a cautery to seal blood vessels ($5,000).
The Medical/Surgical Unit would like to acquire two wall-mounted blood pressure cuffs ($6,000 each).
The operating and recovery rooms need a med cart ($6,000), two wall-mounted vital signs monitors ($2,000 each), a wire shelving unit ($1,760), a stretcher ($5,000), hysterscopes for internal examinations ($15,300), a laproscopic tower to use technology to view internal organs ($52,000), and pressure support ventilation software to enhance anaesthetic equipment ($4,500).
The Rosamond Unit would like to buy four electric beds ($7,000 each), two med carts ($6,000 each), two pressure relief mattresses ($2,500 each), a replacement floor lift ($13,000) and two ceiling lifts ($7,000 each).
Equipment needed for the Pharmacy includes a laptop computer ($1,200), fridge with freezer ($4,000) and a pharmacy information system ($5,000). Physiotherapy needs a replacement traction package ($12,000), a recumbent bike ($2,500) and a neuromuscular electrical stimulator ($1,200).
The Ultrasound Department needs a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) scanner ($12,000).
The largest items on the list are an autoclave to sterilize instruments for $100,000 and a radiology information system, which costs $75,000.
