Boy Scout Troop 5 Committee Meeting

Call to order-6:30 PM
Minutes from January’s meeting approved as presented.
Reports
Scoutmaster-
Troop structure: The Senior Patrol Leader is Joe Zupparo and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader is Zack Valincourt. The patrols through June 2010 are as follows:
Patrol leader Jordan Rodwell with Josh Jason Witkowski, and Adam Oldfield
Patrol leader Chris Valincourt with Nick Esposito, Nick Arieno, Ron Frear, and Tommy Kolankiewicz
Patrol leader Alex D’Arpino with Justyn Dugan, Ryan Hooper, and Tyler Johnston
Patrol leader Ian Yeara with Tyler Porcelli, Duffy O’Hara, and Nathan Arieno.
Attendance at campouts has decreased since last year. 12 of the 19 scouts are going to Camp Gorton for February campout.
Treasurer- We have $1,327 in the troop account. Applebee’s fundraiser money is due February 16th to Sharon. Since this is during vacation week, there is no troop meeting that day and scouts will need to make sure she has the money by that date.
Advancement Coordinator- Deb Arieno is working with the Council to make sure that all information is correctly recorded in the Council records. Please be sure you have contacted her if any information was missing or incorrect on the paper she out listing the badges and ranks earned by your scout.
Old Business
Insurance-
Deb Arieno researched with an attorney the question of insurance and how it affects the leaders and drivers. He felt no further insurance is needed other than the BSA insurance. He suggested that leaders and drivers tel their insurance companies that they are a part of troop 5.
New Business
Board of Reviews-Feb. 9th. We have 2 teams set up for the Boards of Review.
Court of Honor –Feb. 23rd. The blue cards are due Feb. 9th Sharon will ask Brenda to organize refreshments.
John will be purchasing patches to commemorate campouts To receive a patch they must attend the entire campout.
Order of the Arrow scouts will be recognized at the Court of Honor and the troop OA representative will talk about the spring ordeal which is May 7th – 9th.
May campout – We are considering April 30th – May 2nd since there are cabins available however there are no sites with cabins available the weekend that we originally picked for the campout. (5/14-16)
Camp Gorton – Absolutely no electronics permitted on the campout. Scouts are encouraged to bring board games.
