How Do I – Test Magnetic Plugs in the system
Magnetic Plugs collect iron material (FE) from the oil as it passes. Magnetic plugs are removed from the oil sump during the oil change. They will typically be examined by the service technician performing the oil change, and an assessment made in terms of the condition. In certain cases, an image will be loaded to assist. Infotrak will only allow a maximum of 2 images for each magnetic plug.
The system now allows for two types of testing;
- When an Oil Sample is taken it allows for the image of the plug to be added to assist with interpretation
- When the oil is changed, the magnetic plug can be sent to the laboratory for analysis, and a replacement plug will be provided by the laboratory. The magnetic plug will then be treated like a filtergram with analysis being completed on both wear mechanisms and size of the particles. Images will be loaded to the system in exactly the same way as filtergram images. A separate test type needs to be created called magnetic plugs.
Changes made to the system are;
