Full Double Elimination Tournament

DATE: Sunday, March 2, 2008 Wrestling Starts at: 9:30 AM Sharp


SITE: East Pennsboro High School – 425 Shady Lane, Enola, Pa 17025
WEIGH-INS: Sunday, March 2nd Time: 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM No Weight changes allowed. No Weight allowance.

Wrestlers only will be permitted in the locker room for weigh-ins.
AGE EFFECTIVE DATE: December 31, 2007 (See rule #2)

AWARDS: 1st through 3rd place receive MEDALS and advances to Area IX Championship Tournament, on March 15, 2008 at Central Dauphin East High School. The top two finishers at the Area IX, District Tournament receive medals & T-shirts and advance to State Championship Tournament on March 28th & 29th, 2008 in Erie Pa.

(NOTE: 8 & Under Division does note advance to the State Tournament.)

ABSOLUTELY NO PHONE ENTRIES OR WALK-INS will be considered. Please send applications in team lots if possible.

Application MUST be read and signed on the reverse side. This form may be duplicated.

Top THREE (3) finishers at the Section 2 qualifier advance to the Area IX, Championship Tournament held at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg Pa. The Area IX tournament is on March 15th, 2008. The top two (2) place winners in all weight and age groups (EXCEPT 8 & UNDER DIVISION) at the Area IX Championship Tournament advance to the PJW State Championship Tournament on Friday & Saturday, March 28th & 29th 2008 at the Louiss J. Tullio Arena in Erie, PA.

RULES

1.  Entry fee covers entry requirements and insurance. Fee is $15.00

2.  A wrestler's age group classification is determined by his/her age on December 31. EXAMPLE: A wrestler’s 11th birthday is 1/1/2008. That wrestler competes in the 10 and under division.

3.  P.I.A.A. rules will govern all matches, except as modified by PJW.

4.  All bouts will consist of three periods of 2 - 1 - 1 minute, overtime will be same as PIAA rules.

5.  Headgear is required in all PJW Tournaments.

6.  The PIAA shoelace rule will be enforced. Please be prepared to secure or tape shoelaces.

7.  The hair rule for the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling tournaments will be enforced as defined in the National Federation Rules Book and adopted by the P.I.A.A.

8.  Participants must weigh in at the weight class they have entered. There will be no shifting of weights or substitutions at weigh-in time. Entrants not making weight will be scratched. Weigh-in will be required only once for each tournament.

9.  A wrestler cannot wrestle outside his/her age group, and may enter in one weight class only. Exception: a wrestler exceeding the limit for the last weight class in 10&under or 11&12 may enter the appropriate weight class in the next higher age group.

10. Entrants must reside in one of the following Area IX, Pa County’s: Adams, Berks (Except Boyertown School Dist.), Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, York & Schuylkill.

11. Birth certificates or copies of birth certificates will be required of all Area finalists at the Area IX District Tournament, and for all wrestlers competing in the State Championship Tournament.

12. The source of rules governing this tournament will be the P.I.A.A. Rule Book, the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Rules Booklet, and the Area Rules that apply to the operation of the qualifying tournament.

13. Only fulltime residents of Pennsylvania may enter the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling tournaments.

14. The Application and the Code of Conduct form must be completed entirely for an applicant to be considered for entry to the PJW tournament.

15.  A wrestler who qualifies in the top 3 at this Section Tournament is not eligible to participate at another Sectional Qualifier within Area IX.

16.  No HATS are permitted on the mats or in the competition area.

We understand that the Tournament Director, under the guidance of the PJWC, may withdraw our son/daughter from any Tournament if he/she is involved in behavior or activity deemed to be detrimental to the health, safety or welfare of other participants, spectators, tournament staff, or tournament sites; or if involved in actions considered to be detrimental to the goals and objectives of PJW.

I/We also release the East Pennsboro School District, The East Pennsboro Wrestling Assoc. and the PJW Association of any and all liabilities of injury and or damages while participating in the PJW Area IX, Section 2 Qualifier Tournament.
