To:James Johnson

You are delegated position classification authority for the (jurisdictional area) for the following positions and with the special provisions listed below:

1. Delegation.

This authority includes the responsibility for assigning the proper pay plan, title, series, and grade to positions; for preparing written evaluations in those cases where they are required; for determining FLSA status, BUS codes, financial disclosure information, positions sensitivity; for proper completion of the AD-332 and any supplemental statements needed to support your classification decision; for completing and documenting audits of positions; for determining for an upgrade whether or not it should be a competitive or noncompetitive promotion; for determining for a downgrade whether or not Reduction-in-Force procedures, or other procedures should apply, and whether the incumbent of the position is entitled to saved grade and/or saved pay.

You are delegated authority for the following positions:

a. All General Schedule positions through GS-12.

b. All Federal Wage System positions, including WL and WS.

2. Special Provisions.

a. You may not classify positions in the direct line of supervision over your position.

b. You may not classify your own position.

c. You will prepare a written evaluation for any position

(1) for which there are no published standards;

(2) whenever you exceed the published grade-level standards;

(3) for any mixed-grade or mixed-series position;

(4) for any position classified by use of a guide.

d. You will document in writing all desk audits, and any audit that results in an upgrade or downgrade requires a written evaluation for the classification determination, and for a determination of noncompetitive promotion or for a determination of saved grade and/or pay.

e. This authority can not be redelegated.

f. This delegation remains in effect until rescinded in writing or until you leave your present job.

3. Basis for Qualifying.

(Enter here the formal training courses satisfactorily completed, previous experience exercising delegated classification authority, length and type of on-the-job training, or any other information that would indicate the possession of the required knowledge and skills for exercising this authority.)
