The SummerDissertationFellowships are availabletosupport outstanding OSU post-candidacy, doctoral studentsfrom any disciplinary or interdisciplinary program.There are a limited number of competitive Fellowships available, and applicants must meetthe followingrequirements:

  • must have been enrolled in fall 2014 and spring 2015 semester;
  • must be continuing as a degree-seeking student in the fall 2015 semester; and
  • must be official Ph.D. candidates (candidacy form must be approved by the Graduate College by May8, 2015).
  • Must be nominated by the academic unit– no self-nominations.

The Fellowship comes with the following benefits:

  • $6,000to be paid inJune;
  • tuition waiver for up to three credit hours;and
  • the student and project will be highlighted on the OSU Graduate College website.

The Fellowship carries the following requirements:

  • cannot be combined with any other type of OSU employment or assistantship during June 1-July 31, 2014 fellowship period;
  • enrollment in at least two credit hours over the summer;
  • provide a research-related photo of herself/himself of suitable resolution for publication (photo release will be required);
  • satisfactorily complete a brief research report for public release (form provided); and
  • deliver requested information in electronic format on or before August 14, 2015.

Applications must be submitted electronically as a single pdf file by 5 pm, Friday, February 27, 2015, to . The following materials are to be included in the order listed:

  • cover page (name, CWID, program of study, faculty advisor’s name, and essay on what this opportunity would mean for you and your graduate career – 300 word limit essay);
  • brief outline of research (purpose and methodology) to be carried out during the summer 2015fellowship period (2 pages, double spaced, 1 in. margins, 12 pt. font);
  • most recent OSU transcript (unofficial transcript is acceptable);
  • list of University activities/service;
  • letter of recommendation from primary research advisor; and
  • briefendorsement by thedepartment/unit head or program director.

Fellowship Information

  • Questions should be directed to the Acting DeanJean Van Delinder.
  • Previous Summer Dissertation Fellowship Awardees are ineligible.
  • It is anticipated that there will be funding available for ~10 summer fellowships.
  • When the fellowships are awarded,the name of the Fellowship will be designated and should be appropriately acknowledge in publications, presentations, etc., as indicated in the award message.
  • Fellowships are expected to be announced in April during Graduate Education Week.
