Meeting was called to order by Michelle Ballard, PTO President at 6:16 pm on minutes at Grove Patterson Academy in Toledo, OH.

Review of Prior Meeting Minutes & Vote for Approval

Principal Report

  • Character Counts
  • Shirts are in and will be issued to prior months award recipients
  • Students who received a character counts award may wear their shirts any day of the week just as they do spirit wear shirts
  • Thank you to all who participated in the food drive; more than 1,000 lbs of food were collected for local families in need
  • The winter music program will be held 12/17 615p-815p, details to come home; all grades are participating
  • Scholastic book fair to be held 12/11-17, and after the music program
  • No school for students 12/18
  • Gift cards of $10 for 2 volunteer hours are still needed to recognize the staff
  • 1/8 2nd quarter ice cream social
  • volunteers are needed for the lunch periods
  • please email Mrs Johnson or Mr Mitchell if you have an interest
  • Reminder Read and Respond homework is still required

New Business

  • Thank you to all who attended the Paint and Canvas- we made $190 to put toward programs and incentives for our students and teachers
  • Thanks to all who have participated in the survey
  • The PTO board is reviewing the results and working to develop a plan to ensure we address as many of the suggestions and improvements
  • If you have additional ideas or comments you would like to share, please submit to our PTO board through
  • Results of the survey will be shared once fully tallied
  • Marco's Pizza fundraiser night for GPA PTO Monday, December 7th.
  • There will be an individual classroomcontest & the class with the most orders wins a pizza party courtesy of Marco's Pizza!!
  • Call in your order; say that you are with Grove Patterson (10% proceeds for call in orders 15% for online orders); they will ask you your teacher’s name; the teacher with the highest number of orders will have a pizza party for their class
  • Mr. Crowell from Washington Church: Mini Little Libraries
  • The idea is a take a book, leave a book to share reading with all of the students
  • The installation of the library will be on Monday, 12/7; students will visit the mini library with their reading teacher
  • Families that wish to have a library for their yard to share reading with children in their neighborhoods; there will be an opportunity to sign up; details to follow
  • Families who would like to have one at their home will be able to paint and decorate their library for their homes, the construction will be completed
  • Link all of the GPA mini library locations and visible on the GPA website
  • Buddy Benches purchased from Rogers HS
  • Students who feel they need a friend, when they sit on the bench other students should recognize the student and sit with them
