More than $120,000 in funding has been allocated to fourteen projects in the Northern Territory.
‘All the projects demonstrate a strong focus on partnerships and collaboration in delivering skills development and opportunities across the Northern Territory.’ Arts NT Chair, Gillian Harrison said.

2005 Indigenous Music Awards nomination forms
Nominations Closing 15th July
Music Industry categories:
Best Music Release 2005, Song of the Year, Musician of the Year, Band of the Year, Traditional Music Award, Best Artwork and Design, New and Emerging Act, Hall of Fame-Top End and Hall of Fame - Central Australia.
Nominations can be made by NT residents working in any area of the NT music Industry, with a limit of one nomination per category. (Please consider signed and unsigned artists)

Anyone in the NT can ring one of the radio stations below and request your favourite Indigenous song.

Loud and Proud CAAMA 25th Anniversary/NAIDOC Program
The Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) has been providing media services to the Indigenous and Non Indigenous community worldwide for 25 years. CAAMA has focused on promoting Indigenous culture, language, dance and music while promoting positive achievement of Indigenous people. To make the anniversary really special and have a huge impact on Indigenous communities in Alice Springs and Central Australia this year’s NAIDOC will be combined with CAAMA's 25th Anniversary. Program highlights include:
11 July 9:30am March, opening ceremony, BBQ and stalls. (Assemble out front of CAAMA)
12 -14 July CAAMA open days from 10am-4pm, with Indigenous bands and film screenings in the evenings.
15 July Closing ceremony to be held at the Convention Centre hosted by Jon Braun with performances by Indigenous bands includingNeil Murray, Desert Rose Dancers, Warren H Williams, Tjupiand Coloured Stones.

Darwin Festival announces a sneak preview to the 2005 program
The Darwin Festival today announced that Australia’s most popular comedy trio, Tripod, and the Australian Dance Theatre’s critically acclaimed Birdbrain, will be coming to the Top End to perform at the Darwin Festival 2005.
Festival Director Malcolm Blaylock said the Festival is thrilled to be highlighting two of Australia’s finest creative talents, but this is just a small sample of an exciting and diverse program for 2005.

Delphic Games
The 2nd International Delphic Games (the Arts equivalent to the Olympic Games) will be held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia from 1-7 September 2005. The theme of the 2nd Delphic Games will be "Revitalising Endangered Traditions" It is anticipated that some 1200 participants from 40 nations from around the globe will participate.

"Craft-In-Site" small grants program

Territory Craft is pleased to announce the continuation of the "Craft-In-Site" small grants program. Funding from the Australia Council will enable small grants to be available to craftspeople with the marketing and public presentation of their work intra and interstate. The available funds are designated to assist with initiatives such as marketing, promotional documentation including exhibition expenses. In addition, funds are available for practitioners to commission writing for catalogue essays, brochures or web based promotion.
Due to limited funds available and the competitive environment, this year a black out period will apply from the previous year and successful applicants will be funded once only in this round.

Emerging Artists Initiative 2005

Territory Craft is pleased to advise the continuation of the Australia Council funded mentorship that will provide an opportunity for a 3 month mentorship of a young or emerging craftsperson working with an established practitioner.
The mentorship provides an opportunity to explore new artistic directions, expand technical skills and increase business practice knowledge including marketing.

Playworks/Varuna Mentored Residencies

The three Playworks Fellowships offer mentored residencies of 2 weeks at Varuna, enabling intensive work in an environment wholly dedicated to writing. This Fellowship includes 10 hours' mentorship provided by Playworks. The mentorship is negotiated directly between Playworks and the writer, and can occur either during or after the residency.

The Australian Society of Authors is offering ten mentorships for young and emerging writers and picture book illustrators in 2005–06, with a minimum of two places for Indigenous writers or illustrators.

Bruce Dawe National Poetry Prize
Closing 31 July
An annual $1,500 award to encourage poets throughout Australia. The endowment is held in trust by the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, and administered by the Faculty of Arts. The prize is judged by the English Literature staff of the Faculty, chaired by Dr Chris Lee.
Bruce Dawe said the decision to endow the prize stemmed from a belief that all universities should encourage the practice of the arts within Australian society.
It is hoped that this prize will support poets and help recognise the important contribution they make to Australian culture.

2005 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize Call for Entries
Closing 5 August
The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize is the only national prize for free standing sculptures of smaller dimensions (up to 80cm). This year the Prize will be judged by John Stringer, Curator of the Kerry Stokes Collection (Perth) and William Wright AM, The Sherman Foundation Fellow in Contemporary Art at Sydney University and former Dean, State University of New York, who has extensive national and international arts experience.

The 2005 ByronBay Writers Festival poetry prize
Closing 11 July
Writers short-listed for the prize have the privilege of reading their work on Saturday 6 August as part of the Festival Poetry Evening at the Byron Community and Cultural Centre. Each applicant can enter up to 5 poems, though only one poem per short listed writer is selected for reading. Submitted poems must not have been previously entered in the Byron Bay Writers Festival poetry prize and must not have won any other awards.
Entries must be submitted with an application form.

Mordant Visual Arts Award

The British Council in Australia is offering aspiring visual artists between the ages of 18-26 the chance to win $10,000 to visit the United Kingdom through its Mordant Visual Arts Award. There are 6 awards in total; 5 in the creative industries category and 1 in the visual arts. Winners will receive a tailored professional placement in the UK, a cash prize and career development.

REELLIFE short film awards for young people
Reelife is a festival of youth filmmaking and ideas. It was started in 2002 and is a project of Vibewire Youth Services.
It is run entirely by and for people 25 years and under. There are about 300 film festivals a year in Australia at the moment, but we think we're different: we are using the short film festival as a forum specifically for youth expression and ideas. Reelife is less about showcasing commercially viable and technically outstanding films, and more about showing films that deal strongly with issues and perspectives of Australia's young people.
Make a film about what matters to you, whether it's personal, political, social or a community issue. All entrants must be 25 years old or younger. Films can be any genre or style, and up to ten minutes long.
Prizes awarded will include:

·Best Documentary
·Panavision Prize for Best Cinematography

The ANUSchool of Art is calling for applications from visual artists for Domain 2005, a temporary Public Art Project in the Parliamentary Triangle in October 2005.
