520 Professional License Incentives
Employees in Engineer I/II/III/Senior, Geologist I/II/III/Senior, Building Plans Checker I/II/III, and Architectural Assistant classifications shall be advanced five percent (5%) starting in the pay period following receipt of the employee's license as a Professional Engineer, Architect, Registered Geologist or Certified Engineering Geologist under provisions of the California Business and Professions Code. Employees in Field Survey Supervisor and Senior Engineer classifications shall be advanced five percent (5%) starting in the pay period following receipt of the employee’s license as a Land Surveyor under provisions of the California Business and Professions Code. No individual shall receive a bonus for more than one (1) license (i.e., Architect, Engineer or Geologist).
Employees in the classification of Appraiser I/II/III/Senior, Special Properties Appraiser and Junior/Assistant/Associate Real Property Agent and employees of other related classes as designated by the Director of Personnel Services who carry the designation of Master, Appraiser's Institute (MAI) shall receive five percent (5%) in addition to their normal pay. The additional 5% shall be paid commencing when the conditions set forth below have been met.
Employees in the classifications of Auditor-Appraiser I/II/III, Accountant I/II/Senior/Supervising/ Principal/Chief, Deputy Auditor-Controller, Deputy Treasurer-Tax Collector, Accounting & Financial Division Chief, Accounting & Financial Manager, Assistant Retirement Administrator and employees of other related classes as designated by the Director of Personnel Services who are California Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or California Public Accountants (PA) shall receive five percent (5%) in addition to their normal pay. The additional 5% shall be paid commencing when the conditions set forth below have been met.
Employees in the classifications of Accountant I/II/Senior/Supervising and Accounting Systems Analyst who are Certified Internal Auditors (CIA) and employees of other related classes as designated by the Director of Personnel Services shall receive $50 per pay period in addition to their normal pay.
Proof of possession of the MAI, CPA, PA, CIA or SRPA designation must be presented by the employee for verification prior to payment. Employees newly hired who possess either the MAI, CPA, PA, CIA or SRPA designation must successfully complete their probationary period or any extension thereof prior to receipt of the applicable payment. Employees seeking certification for either the CIA or SRPA designation may not use County training or travel reimbursement funds when the course is solely for certification or continuing certification as a CIA or SRPA.
Should designation as an MAI, CPA, PA, SRPA or CIA become a requirement for any of the job classifications listed above, the additional payment shall cease immediately for those classifications.
Employees in the classification of Respiratory Therapist, Senior Respiratory Therapist and Supervising Respiratory Therapist who have active registration with the National Board of Respiratory Therapy shall receive 5% in addition to their normal pay. The registration certification must be presented by the employee for verification prior to payment.
