Details of the AGM to be held on 12th September 2009 will be sent to members. We anticipate a 10am start for the AGM with the rally starting after that.

Track Information

Peterborough SME has a permanent raised multi-gauge track, using aluminium rail covering 3½", 5" and 7¼" gauges at just over 1100 feet in length. The site is situated within the walls of a Sue Ryder Hospice in what was the “Kitchen Garden” and comprises just under an acre. The track is electronically signalled in 3 colour aspect and is fully automatic. There are raised steaming bays with half of them covered from the elements. There is 12v DC and 240v AC available to all points of the bays. A hydraulic lifting platform simplifies the unloading of models from cars etc onto the bays and a sliding traverser links the bays with the main line.

If you are bringing an engine please don't forget your boiler certificate!

Track Location

Thorpe Hall is located to the west of the city centre in the village of Longthorpe and is easily accessible from all major routes (A1 / A47 / A605). The address for people with sat nav is: Thorpe Hall, Longthorpe Road, Longthorpe, Peterborough, Cambs. PE3 6LW.

Rally Facilities

As part of the rally, Peterborough SME will provide a ploughman’s lunch for each visiting driver with the option for others to purchase at a very reasonable price. Tea, coffee and light snacks will be available all day. Peterborough will be happy to provide a BBQ on the Saturday evening for anyone wishing to stay a bit later or stay over for the Sunday. Secure storage is available for anyone wishing to stay both days and leave their models on-site overnight.

Accommodation

Peterborough SME is able to accommodate approximately 20 caravans/tents in the grounds of the hall and there are numerous guest houses and hotels to suit all budgets within a 5 mile radius. The Ferry Meadows Caravan Club site is 4 miles away.
